WAG Practicing routines vs. practicing skills, which is better?

Skills with up-training. Routines during the 2 weeks prior to a meet. Anytime there is a break more then 2 weeks between a meet, it Is back to skills/drills. Seems to work well.

Is a press handstand mount onto the beam a B skill? This is in a Lvl 6 routine.

WAG how DO the judges do it?

I saw this recently at a Level 6 meet. First place beam routine went to a girl who competed a cartwheel and round-off dismount. All other girls had BWO (one had BHS) and front or back tuck dismounts. So confusing to me. That system doesn't seem to encourage the athletes to do harder skills.

    MAG Boys Competition Attire

We have our first ever boys meet coming up. Just curious how it works with the boys having to wear pants for some events and shorts for others. Do the boys just change from pants to shorts on the competition floor? Also, are they required to wear socks with the pants? This will be a first for...

    WAG Level 6 Beam

So some compete without all the skills/requirements? If that's the case they would have a lower start value....say 9.7 instead of 10 (for example)?? Too bad the girls don't have "bonus" points like the boys. This sport is very complex and interesting You have all been very helpful. DD is just...

    WAG Level 6 Beam

You have all been very helpful. I'm not sure why they would put a roundoff in if she is doing the tuck jump/180 turn and that is a B. I don't usually watch....maybe she isn't doing the tuck jump correctly or maybe to fill the place for her BHS. Can you have more then 1 B skill in a level 6 beam...

    WAG Level 6 Beam

I am trying to understand Level 6 beam requirements. It is my understanding that Level 6 beam requires one "B" skill (plus the As). Does a BWO-BWO series satisfy the B requirement? My daughter has her BHS on beam but not confident and consistent enough to compete it at this point. They are...

    Team uniforms

Does it have anything to do with breast cancer? October is breast cancer month. I have seen a lot of sports teams wearing pink for awareness. Maybe?

    WAG Grips!

DD has used Ginnasta and US Glove Hot Shots and has been happy with both. It may be just my imagination but they both seem very similar. She is currently using US Glove. I must say Ginnasta's customer service is top notch!

MAG Help.... Should he stay, or should he go?

Just a quick update: Spoke with gym owners and voiced my concerns. I was reassured that they are committed to seeing this team compete and growing the team. People were upset and disappointed but this will settle down. We have a meet schedule. Thank you all for your advice! I believe a move...

MAG Help.... Should he stay, or should he go?

Thank you all for the replies and great advice! To answer a few of the questions, I believe the large turnover is lack of commitment by the boys and leaving for other sports. To my knowledge they are not leaving for other gyms. We lost a few this summer when it became mandatory for the boys in...
