Which mistake is worse (bigger deduction) in a Level 3 bar routine?

1) Putting your leg on the bar during the shoot through?
2) Completing the shoot through correctly and then falling backwards?

She has been doing Option 1 all season and it is killing her all around score.
The coaches decided to try to fix this for state. She is now consistently doing #2.

If i recall, falling backwards is a fall (0.5). I don't remember the deduction for leg on the bar, but would guess it is less.

The falling backwards is definitely a fall (0.5). She also might not get the credit for the shoot through if she falls before completion. I don’t have the code in front of me, but I cannot imagine that putting the leg down would equate to more than a fall, but it could be other form errors compounded... Interesting question and one I will check out if I get a chance tomorrow!

Putting leg on is 0.2, while falling backwards, even if she doesn't come off the apparatus or touch the ground is 0.5, and she may not receive completion for her shoot through

Definitely a bigger deduction for falling backwards--its a fall, -.5 vs -.2. I would think that .2 wouldn't impact her AA score heavily, but .5 will definitely take a hit on the AA score.
