I just finished listening to the Blind Landing Podcast, which talks about the vault controversy during the Sydney AA. I found it to be very interesting and well done. Has anyone else listened?
One of my gymnasts is trying to get her blind full. She can do it on single bar but not with a low bar. On single bar she still turns quite late sometimes but can still continue with a giant.
She also has the fundamentals like 3-4 giant half turns in a row with good form, legs together pushing...
My daughter is a level 7 . She moved up from one season of 4 to a 7. She has perfected her bar routine for level 7 and she was working on pirouettes along with other upgrades like stalders and then a few months ago they took her off of working pirouettes and started doing front giants. She...
When I do my giant blind my posting arm shifts outward. It's kinda difficult to explain, but instead of leaving my arm in one position it slides out away from my body. I have a video of a whole bunch of my blinds here: click here. Watch my right arm as a I turn to see what I mean.
What I'd like...
One of our compulsory levels has in the floor routine back extension roll into a blind change. Can someone please explain to me how the gymnast initiates the turn?
So my DS is getting ready for Nationals. Everything is looking really good. The thorn in his side is this blind change with straight, kept together legs. I'm not looking for coaching advise but how hard is this? He says it's not as easy as it looks and I believe him. He's been working on...
DD came home last night and said they were working on blind changes on bars. I said "That's great!", then later went to Youtube to try to figure what she was talking about. I feel dumb, but it looks like a pirouette to me. Is it turning a different direction than a pirouette or just using a...
Coach called me earlier this week to let me know that DD was doing really well lately....really cleaning up form on beam and fixing some errors that have been persistent for several months. She is outpacing her teammates on bars so to keep her moving forward, the coach said they had starting...
I'm having a major fear of tap half turns (the old level 5 dismount only higher) right now at gymnastics. Up until about a month ago I had a tap half to handstand, but after one turn in which my body didn't turn for the blind they've been progressively getting worse and I'm at the the point now...
I have had a blind for some years. I am a righty and when I do blinds I lift up my left arm, just like in a pirouette. When I do into a front giant I do my blind and go one way then the front giant then turn back the other way. Do I make sense? I always lift my left hand, unless I think about it...
Hello, my name is Kyle.
I have been back twisting for a while and have pretty good air awareness. I used to be able to do 1.5 twists without a problem. Next I worked double fulls but could never land them nicely so my coach taught me to spot my landing right before I landed and hollow out...
Hi all you wonderful people that know tons of stuff!
My older dd is a Level 8 this season and starting to train blind changes. She is in the very early stages but says it is hard for her to turn. How does the coach determine which arm they turn?! Her regular 1/2 pirouette came pretty easily...
I've been watching my daughter practice and/or trying to get her blind change. I've never seen her being spotted and she has confirmed she rarely gets spotted. I've watched my 10 yo. daughter painstakingly swing up to a handstand to perform a blind change all by herself and fall short of doing...
So a while ago i learned a pretty good blindchange with a spot. then i started to do them on my own and started to separate my legs and arch a lot and stuff like that. My coach always tells me to do the giant first, then the blind change, or push really hard on the arm im posting on. I try...
Hi Coaches,
Is it still called a blind change when the gymnast is turning from a backward giant to an L grip? Is an L grip giant worth the same as a front giant? They seem so much more difficult.
Thanks in advance!
Jules
I am friends with USAG on facebook and today they posted a link to this story.
It's about 10 year old Lola, a L6 gymmie who is legally blind. I can't figure out how to turn to captions on the video but the comments made it seem like a very heart warming and inspiring story, thought I would...
So...
Got a new one on me today.. I was asked to teach an "in turn" to which I said "a what?" After explanation, I said "Oh! A Blind Change!" to which I was told "no..."
So.. is there really a difference between the two? Valuation difference? Other than the technical, which seems to be the...
