7yo dd (level 2) really wants to get her back handspring (some of her friends who do acro have theirs). Her gym does not offer the clinics (she is currently level 2), but they do uptraining. They work on them at the gym at most 15 minutes a week from what I can see. She is close-- she did one...
I'm having a difficult time with one of my athletes. She's a righty..and I noticed tonight she's using only her right leg when jumping to do her back handspring. Which makes her back handspring crooked and her feet come apart before they leave the floor. How do I fix this??!
I've been in gymnastics for give years and I STILL don't have my back handsprings on floor. I feel like I'll never get them and I'm super close but I can't take the last step without help and I don't think this coach will spot me with them tomorrow at open gym because she thinks I need to learn...
Everytime one of my gymnasts does her round off back handspring her shoulders close on her back handspring, either landing on her face or her elbows. Her round off is nice and she can complete the skill but I cannot figure out why her shoulders close. HELP!
I am a Level 9 gymnast, and my series on beam is a Bhs Bhs. You'd think I would be able to do a good Bhs on beam by now, but unfortunately, I have lots of trouble with them. I learned them incorrectly, and I've never really been able to fix the problems thats caused. I posted a few videos of...
So uptraining has begun and I have know idea where some of the drills lead to or if that is what the skill is. She's training level 7 stuff and my scant knowledge of these skills is showing. So where if anywhere does a front hand spring bounder bounder go? It looks pretty cool that might be...
We have a gymnast who has beautiful tumbling all around but when she goes to do her front handspring layout there is a huge lack of lift, she seems to be piking just slightly. My issue is, in terms of twisting in the future, what is the modern perspective on the easiest way to twist a front lay...
How can you properly execute a front handspring? My coaches have called over other coaches and they all tried to explain to me what to do and how to do it. I just can't snap up! I land in a squatted position with one leg in front of the other, they come down almost at the same time.
Any tips...
Ok before posting this I want to mention that my DD is not a typical 4 year old. She is very strong and very flexible. She is 90% for her hight. So she looks older and very muscular. Not typical 4 year old baby build at all. So she has been "practicing" with spot her back handspring for quite...
Hi!
I recently started coaching a group of level D girls. They have one other coach too but we never coach together.
Girls have been doing front handsprings for years. Others can do them correctly but one of the girls came to me yesterday and said she struggled with them at last practice with...
I can't get my back handspring!!!!!! I used to be able to do it until i popped my shoulder out of its socket. Since then I have not been able to get it!!! Help!!
How long did it take you to get a good back handspring once you did it alone for the first time?
ALSO
How long did it take you to get really comfortable with them+did you lose it at all after you got it for the first time?
Just wondering, beacuse I just got mine. :)
I just got my back handspring on a mat today, (yay!) except I am piking.
My coach told me I was, though I don't know how badly.
I don't get stuck in a handstand or anything so it can't be that bad, right?
Anyway, my questions are...
Will I gradually stop piking as I do more back handsprings...

When we work on handspring vault I can go over with help. I know I need to kick and reach far, but are their tips to keep you legs straight or to get more power? Or do I just have to keep trying till it clicks?
Hey everyone! before I start I just want to say thanks for giving me advice on previous problems. I have actually improved (:
So my team and I are doing handsprings on vault (most of us have them, including me). I just want to fix it up.
I want to reach my hands out farther. On the table...
Most of the time, when i do a handstand, i go into a front handspring. I dont know why, but my muscles are so used to doing a front handspring.
How can i stop myself from doing a front handspring?
Hello, I am new here, and I wanted to ask a question concerning my back handspring.
I'm 13 (14 on Tuesday) years old and I just began level four gymnastics. Except...I don't have my back handspring! I've been trying to get this skill for five months now, but with very little practice. See, I go...
Lately, when ever I do a back handspring at home on my mat(only a couple of inches thick) my head and my wrist end up hurting. Any suggestions or explanation or even tips would help.Does this happen to any of you? Thanks:)
