Hi - DD has increased her training time over the last 1-2 months. As a result, there is more time on bars and the conditioning the do on bars like pull ups and leg lifts, etc.
So the problem is she now has more rips on her palms. She sometimes uses tape to provide a buffer.
My question is...
Any tips on how to get them to heal faster? We just started summer practice a few days ago, and on the first day I got a big rip on my last turn doing giants. Then, today, I got another rip inside of the other rip. I'm using a tape grip, but I dont like the feeling under my regular grip, and I...
I was just randomly searching youtube and found this video...
YouTube - The Mother of All Rips
I have no idea how this girl could have ripped like that:eek:!!!!!!!
What do YOU think about it?????
On Monday I ripped 3 times, and 2 same to be healing fine, if they are not already healed. My other rip though, is not healing very well at all. It keeps on cracking and the crack is deep enough for it to bleed. It is still a little sore, but it is dry. My competition is on Saturday, and I am...
I would like to know how big your biggest rip was ;) As a gymnast, rips are a part of my life. I would also like to know what your weirdest rip was. ;) Mine was a big rip, with a little island of YELLOW skin in it :/ it looked like a sandy island, with red water around it! :p
:confused:Hi all, could you give me some sound advice regarding how to take care of rips, and general maintenance/upkeep of the palms so as to possibly avoid the rips? I read something about preparation H? do people really use this?
THANKS!!
Hi guys, haven't been on in awhile because I fell off the beam and injured my elbow. I got back into the gym on Monday and had my first rip. It was a tiny one and didn't bleed. The skin had even grown over by the end of training. However, today (three days on), it's become blister like and it's...
Ok so everyone knows that the best way to protect against rips on the bar in to use grips (also good for traction) but I have been working on my heel stretches in cheerleading and dance, and I'm noticing that my hand is starting to rip and lovely reminder of my childhood in gymnastics (i...
DD is getting rips on her wrists from her buckle grips is this normal?? She does wear pretty thick wrist bands.
She has always worn buckle grips. The wrist rips started this summer when she got new grips but, also started working Level 8 skills???
We did measure when she got new grips and...
My level 8 daughter is always getting blisters. I know this is common but she seems to get more than her share. She tapes up and wears wristbands and grips but each week she gets at least one new oozing blister. Her hands look like she has been through a battle. Not to mention the pain. We put...
I am writing to see if anyone else has a DD that does not use grips? My DD is second year L7 and has never desired grips. She actually said she doesnt want grips. I have talked to her coach and the response was that if she can do her skills without grips then there was no reason to get them. She...
So I'm an adult gymnast and got my first official rip on Wed 11/11 just messing around, swinging on the low bar while our coach went looking for some tape for another girl who got a rip. Of course I was making fun of her when I got mine. :p
Any hoo, I've been keeping a Band-Aid brand blister...
Last night at training I got my first ever rips!!
ah the pain hurt so bad but it was so exciting at the same time, it was like a milestone for me.
Last night was my first day of training level 4 state and at the end the coach announced me as gymnast of the day for getting my first rips on my...
My daughter gets alot of rips and blisters. It seems to me that she gets more than what would be considered normal for a gymnast. She is level 8 and works aggressively on bars. Wraps up and wears wrist bands as well. My question for you coaches is , is there something special she should be...
My level 8 daughter is always getting blisters. I know it's normal to get some but she seems to get more than her share. Her hands and wrists look like she has been tortured! They are really awful looking and I would post a photo but it's pretty gross right now as she came home last night with...
I have a meet this weekend and my hand looks like it is about to rip. Is there anything I can do to keep it from ripping, at least until after Saturday, or should I just let it rip, and focus on letting it heal. I can't really not do bars because our coaches don't let us skip bars unless we...
I dont know whether you've all heard but Yuri Ryazanov, the russian gymnast who came 3rd in the Men's All Around at Worlds was killed in a car accident on his way home from Moscow airport yesterday. I just got home from gym and my parents told me (I was at a teammates house last night). I know I...

I use teabags for my hands when i get rips because lots of people have told me that they help...
I was wondering if this is a myth or if its true and how does it work
So here we are, 1 week out of her first meet of the season and my daughter just got her first rip ever!
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of what she can do this week to dry it out fast, or what she can put on it so it won't sting so bad when she's on bars.
I tried to just put...
Midget has had a few little rips here and there over the last little bit but during the meet she got a pretty good one. Of course she wears it as a badge of honor, especially after all the team girls made such a fuss over her with it. Kind of funny since this is the girl that wants a bandaid if...
