What has worked for your kids? DS (almost 7) usually loves being the center of attention, but apparently that's only when he's not being judged for his performance. He loves gymnastics but hates competitions. First meet of the season is coming up soon, and the anxiety is ramping up. It's...

Off Topic Tips for making a leotard?

So, I've bought a Jalie pattern, read a bunch of threads, learnt that there is a crotch panel in the biketard here and located my overlocker (what we Aussies call a serger). Then I have a bit of a panic about needles and thread... hopefully the good people of ChalkBucket can come to the rescue...

    Parents Tips For Overthinking?

My daughter is very smart.. and also very organized, meticulous, rule-follower, responsible, detailed, punctual, etc. She is in the gifted and talented program, reads at a level five grades higher, etc. Her mind is always going. Almost to a fault. She wakes up and is going through the entire...

    Parents Tips for the Season

Parents are always asking what they can say or do. My DD liked this list in Inside Gymnastics this month (she printed it out and showed me). It has some simple words of wisdom for gymmies. It might be a little cheesy, but my kid liked it. I loved the 'T's'. Rolled my eyes at the 'C'. :)...

    WAG Tips for lengthening stride

I was watching DD during vault practice last week, and her coach was telling her to run faster. So DD immediately increased her "turnover", but her stride gets shorter and shorter, the faster she tries to run. So, it's kinda like her legs are moving really fast, but she's going nowhere. Her arms...

Parents Best tips for scratching with a cast on

DS is going crazy. His arm really itches and the banging the cast with a spoon trick seems to do nothing. He says it actually makes it itch more. I have given him a benedryl in hopes that it might help some (or make him go to sleep so he doesn't notice the itching ). I hesitate to put...

WAG Tips on getting used to grips?

It's been a couple of months of dd being in her grips and she still absolutely hates them. She says it never feels like she can get as good a grip on the bar as when she is in bare hands. She is terrified she will "ping off" in her giants which I guess means like fly off? Her coaches say they...

First off, sorry I post so much, this will be the last for awhile! I'm 13 almost 14 and thought I had no chance of being invited to team or even pre team. Handstand tips?

I can hold them for no longer than 5 seconds. I always front roll out of them unless I don't kick up high enough. I can't come down right. I always roll out of them or if I try to not push over too far, I won't get up there. And I need to hold them longer! Tips? Comments?
