Proud Parent
Just wondering what other clubs do out there for their national girls.

Do they train longer hours?
Do they train together or are they intermingled with the provincial girls.
Do they work on different skills together? Release moves, tumbling, etc.?
Do they condition any different?
Any differences?

Please note I am not saying there is anything wrong training with any group of kids. I am just trying to understand what other clubs do. This is not meant to offend anyone.

Thanks

Here we only have one national girl (senior open). She trains with other provincial (Mostly P4 and P5). This group of girls is in a sport-studies program, so they go to school in the morning and come to the gym in the afternoon. They train 20 hours a week. They're not many, so they can have one on one time, but I don't think they're always on the same event at the same time. As their training ends when I arrive to coach my own gymnasts, I usually see some gymnasts conditioning, some on tramp, and some on bars or beam. For conditioning, we have a physical preparation specialist and I think girls who are in primary school (grades 4 to 6) condition together and the girls in high school condition together.

Boys are staying together tough. They're younger and need a bit more disciplin.

Our club trains the national and provincial athletes together and they group them based on how comparable the levels are. From a parents point of view I do not see any difference between conditioning nor skill acquisition - each girl trains to achieve their specific skills depending on what level she is in. The hours trained are the same as well which can range from 20-22 per week.
