Funny story about my DD in Level 4. Fell on CW first three meets. At the 3rd, had she not fallen, she would have made States (our coach requires 36). She finally asked me how much a fall is and I told her .5 (I just assumed she knew). She had this look like "OMG, if I hadn't fallen....".
So we changed it around - the next meet I said "If you stay on the beam, there's a .5 bonus!". We laughed, and she had a new outlook. (Of course, another mom heard me and felt it necessary to correct me...LOL!)
Oh - and yes, she stayed on the beam the next three meets
(I'd like to say it was my "bonus" comment, but we also had a private with a coach who showed her exactly what she was doing wrong, step by step. Coach was very proud that DD actually listened.)
