Hi everyone!

My 6-year-old in pre-comp has been asking me for a singlet and shorts for practice for a while now. I've been holding off since (1) they're a bit pricey here in Canada (I've only seen options on the GK Elite and Turn websites so far), and (2) I haven’t noticed any other boys wearing that kind of gear at practice.

Just curious—do your boys wear singlets and pommel pants/shorts to practice? And if so, do you have any recs on where to buy them (Canadian Friendly helps)

Thanks in advance!

My son never had to wear singlets to practice. he did always have pommel pants (and later, leggings and shorts) and shorts. He would wear tight fitting tshirts or tank tops. The white/black tank undershirts work really well and are not expensive.

When he was young he did have a few singlets and would wear them occassionally, but not always.

I had good luck talking to parents of older gymnasts at the gym to see if they were selling anything, and later, found some on FB marketplace.

Good to know! and I'll keep an aye on FB marketplace, thanks.

Singlets aren't required for practice - he's only ever seen the comp boys wear them during their mock meets. But he's been watching some gymnastics content on YouTube from Jack Payne and Ninja Kids, and the boys in his videos tend to wear a combination of singlets and shorts and he wants to look like them is what I've gathered.

That makes sense :) They like to look like their role models! Hopefully you can find some that will work. You could also show him some NCAA gymnasts, etc and he can see what they practice in.

I miss the days of little singlets!!
