D came home from practice just bubbly! (and he is normally bubbly so for me to notice, it had to be extra) Kept talkign of fhs ft vault, tsuks, pbars; peaches, healies, giants. Just kept going on and on and on. I love this time of year!

Of course, he managed to lose *ONE* ring grip IN the gym. Sigh. Just bought his back up high bar grips..now buying new rings grips. He is paying for these though... stinker.

That is awesome. Such a reminder of why they doe the sport. They love doing all the cool moves.

At Regionals, when they held up some lost and found stuff, there was 1 shoe. How does a kid lose 1 shoe? As well, it was not claimed right away.

LOL! I have a feeling D's grip is in the pit. I bet he left it out,and it got knocked in and swallowed by foam blocks. Sigh. So upset that we had to buy new ones.

We had a kid on our team lose one shoe at a meet. Seriously....

With our team, it's the shorts. Always the #*@! shorts. (And my son alone has lost enough socks to clothe a small barefoot country.)

I love this time of year! DS's been working on his giants a lot in the gym. He's got two pretty consistently now, and he's working on getting them out of a cast handstand. Yesterday they were all happily working on moys to support (though the coach isn't conceding anything there -- he'd like the moy to support to be with straight arms).

Well, yeah..they all want it to be with straight arms.....that is expected. :)

I am glad D doesn't change at gym...just wears pommels the whole time. Makes my life easier. And we gave up on socks a long long time ago. I don't even match them anymore. He just wears whatever he has!

Did you ever see my post about cleaning out his cubby at gym? Whenever we do, it is a sock count. So far, we have found 11, 15 and the winner 21 socks in his cubby at one time!

DS just keeps his shorts on at all times (he works out in a singlet). But I think at least three boys have lost and found their comp shorts more than once this year.

D works out in a singlet too, but wears pommel pants all the time :)

Self confession time. Boys may lose socks and they may migrate but I admit. I don't like wear shoes so I take them off in the car. I have at least five pairs of shoes in my car.

The boys also seem to swap stuff and it mysteriously disappears. I bought DS a nice pair of CL blue pommel pants from GK (translation: we had to wait a while to get them and they weren't particularly cheap). One day he came home in CM pants. The CL pair never turned up and no one fessed up to having picked them up by mistake. One of his teammates spent the entire year competing in a singlet at least two sizes too large for him after his disappeared on picture day and was replaced with what has to be an AS size. DS's name is now on all the tags of all his comp gear.

Thank goodness my boys work out in shorts and T-shirt...often they just carry their shoes in to the car - out of the car into gym - into cubby - and reverse process for home....I gave up requiring they wear them....and we don't live in a warm climate either.....BOYS

Our boys are not allowed to wear regular shorts and tshirts for safety reasons. compression shirts/singlets and gymnastics shorts/pommel pants are required. But luckily D does not take anything off at gym. I am sure he would lose everything given teh chance. sigh.

My oldest lost his favorite shirt once....it was on one of the rec kids a few weeks later, but hard to prove that shirt was his....although I am pretty sure it was. It was an Olympic Rings shirt. He loved the color.

My youngest is convinced he needs special shorts to get his circles. He gets a lot more when he has 'slippery shorts' on. lol. Its all in his head!

D always said it was easier with pommel pants on. Gave him that "slippery" to get around. When he didn' twear them, he did get an abrasion on his knee.

Interesting "safety" theory - even at big camps all the teams around here train in shorts and t-shirt (or no shirt). Through Level 10. Never saw an issue....but I can IMAGINE one - just glad I don't have to pay for extra stuff!!!

LOL! Lots of issues come ot mind. I have heard stories of tshirts wrapping around bars, thumbs getting caught in shorts while circling, and I guess the tighter stuff just makes it easier to spot! Don't have to worry about shirts/shorts slipping off.

Yep, this is the boys' program's philosophy around here too. The older boys do wear street shorts on some events, but they must wear pommel pants when they do pommels and if they wear shirts at all, they are generally compression shirts. Just about all the younger guys now are in singlets. The last time someone came in to work out in sweat pants, the program director grouched and grumbled and slapped a lot of duct tape over the pockets before he would let the kid get on the pbars.

We've had boys get thumbs caught in pockets. So regular shorts are allowed, as long as there is no pockets. Our coach also just started requiring tight shirts or step-ins. Loose shirts do make spotting harder and they flip up and get in the way.

Sometimes shirts give you something to grab when spotting but typically singlets or no tops. Shorts with no pockets can be fine for events though pommel pants preferred on horse.
