Eh, if the top 5 stay the same at Trials then they made Martha's job a lot easier (particularly Madison).

It's funny how after one meet that people are counting Gabby out. Even with her mishaps she still got 4th. She has one so so meet and people jump down her throat. They keep comparing her to Simine and now Laurie. Wondering why she isn't smiling? Are the male athletes treated this way questioning her hair and smile? Ridiculous! All the athletes are there to do a job. I wish people would get off her back. There is no way Gabby isn't making the team. The real fight is for the 5th spot.

I do not think anyone here said Gabby isn't going. We all know she is.

As to her attitude, yes I would question a MAG athlete who showed no team spirit or enthusiasm too. I never mentioned her hair, do not think anyone here did either. Why would her hair matter?

A smile is a sign of joy, surely that is a normal thing to see in this process, watching MAG the other day I saw many smiles during the process, some amazing shows of sportsmanship and team spirit.

It's more that she's not there supporting the other girls, etc. and she looks like there is no joy at all in competing. I didn't see that from any of the MAGs during the P&Gs, or I'd question them too.

^^^Yes, Yes, Yes! The men chosen for the team are gracious, hardworking, happy and supportive. I want the same role models form the women's team and most of them are. I just don't get that "grateful for the opportunity, supporting my teammates, respecting my coaches" vibe from Gabby or from Danell Levya. I'm glad he didn't make the team and I don't want Gabby to either.

How is Gabby not showing team spirit? Didn't Simone walk away from her coach and talked back in a disrespectful manner? But no mention of this only critiques for Gabby. No one knows what may have happened or what is on a person's mind. Just because someone isn't yelling "you got it" or "go" doesn't mean they don't have team spirit.

I think we all know what team spirit looks like.

When there are 15 girls who could be on the US team, why not choose girls who are totally in to being a part of a team and who are totally into the process of qualifying.

No, we have no idea what is going on in these girls lives, but frankly these are the meets that lead to trials. These are the only opportunities the girls have to show their stuff, so the stuff they show is what matters now. Bringing their A game is of paramount importance, this is the only tool these gymnasts have to help them gain a place.

But I do not doubt for a minute that Gabby will be on the team. She is ranked 4th AA, she has the skills, she can do better than she has done this weekend. I also know she has the most beautiful smile, I have seen it many times before.

I think Gabby is too caught up in her tv reality series, which is 3% gymnastics and the rest family drama. I think she could be really great again, but she is her own worst enemy.
I want Skinner to make the team bc she's from Az and we know her and love her, but realistically I don't think it's going to happen. I'll just be happy that Alex Naddour represents Az for the guys!!!

And Simone is a rock star. After her, I'm most impressed with Laurie!!! And Aly. Those three should be a lock!!!

Oh my dd noticed Simone's behavior also... she is more in tune with this stuff than I am, and any lack of respect shown definitely bothers her. I think this is why she favors Laurie the most. She loves her story, loves the youtube videos that show how human she is at age 9, falling all over the place on beam at the elite qualifier, and enjoys watching the interaction between her and her coach. Unfortunately Gabby has struggled with (not saying this meanly at all) how do I say it...'relaxing her personality' frequently at meets, which does not help her. Again, not said snarkily, but it has happened a lot. I do feel for her, I am sure she is under a lot of pressure....but she is choosing to put herself under the limelight.

Point 1 : Gabby really screwed herself here...not sure why she isn't capable of the Amanar anymore but minus that, a "meh" floor and as you say, hit beam that doesn't beat out others on the team, and her bars haven't been much lately (finished behind Gowey at P & Gs) so she's not really needed...and she's been inconsistent and has even said she's "not mentally ready yet"....uh it's an Olympic year so you need to be ready when Marta is ready , meaning, always.....
Gabby is training her Amanar again and the thinking is that she would have it competition ready by Rio.

:p:D:rolleyes: Ok… we just need to convince the IOC that The US should get to field 2-3 teams and let other countries that want to (and have the depth) do that too.
Then… make it a no muss, no fuss ruling…
Top 5 AA combined P&G and Trials = Team Red
6-10 = Team White
11-15 = Team Blue
… not super fair to specialists, so (for this P&G only)… award them a score equal to 15th place on the missed events… and have them compete the other events at trials (even if they don't have a high start value - their SPECIALIST scores should bring them up.

When did this happen?

After her beam set on day 2, she was walking along with Coach Amy behind her, clearly unhappy with herself saying "OMG that was the worst routine all week, my legs were weak, why does that happen! etc etc". Clearly totally peeved. She did not say anything to her coach that was rude, but she clearly was walking back to her seat and was not happy at all and her coach knew it. Coach Amy was not saying anything at all.

She looks angry and clearly disconnected from her teammates. It doesn't look like they want to be around her much either.
