I am usually not a fan of training with weights in general, if you are a L1-L8, because there are so many hard exercises you can do with your own bodyweihht. (for higher levels it might help very well).
Anyways, I have been using ankle weights only for squat jumps, some straddle and split jumps...
My dd has been told by her coach to do extra stretches and lifts ,wearing her ankle weights . She is 7 and wears 0.5kg dd says they're too light ?? Should I go heavier ?
I had done an aerial several times, but I had taken 1-2 steps before it. Then, I attempted a standing aerial, and I landed short and my foot slipped. This happened yesterday or sometime around then, and it is still bugging me and I can't do an aerial because I get nervous I would do that same...
I just got an email from my daughter's coach that she wants everyone to bring tennis shoes and ankle weights for summer conditioning. They want to take the girls on runs when the weather allows to help increase their endurance for next season (longer floor and bar routines). Dd is 6 and just...
My oldest dd has an Ankle Injury, her gp has said that it is soft tissue damage (ligament) and that dd has to be careful for a week or 2 - no sudden twisting but is ok to do things in a straight line, told the gp that dd is a gymnast and asked if she can still do gym and was told she could as...
DD sprained her ankle a week ago. She is still having some pain and weakness in the ankle, but has been cleared to return to full use, as tolerated. She has her state meet in 1.5 weeks. How realistic is it to think she will be 100% in time for states?
Does anyone know of an ankle brace that keeps the ankle relatively immobilized?
From a bit of research I've found its difficult to do this with ankle braces, so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.
I know that taping works best, but I've gone through nearly 80 rolls of...
My daughter's gym seems to be plagued with ankle injuries lately. In her group of about 14 girls we have had 5 or more ankle injuries. We have a 7 yo who fractured hers doing backhandsprings on a tumble track (this girl could do them on floor) and has reinjured hers 3 more times since. The...
Last week at practice I did a leap and landed on my ankle wrong and rolled it. It didn't hurt when I first did it and I kept on doing practice just fine. Two days after that practice my ankle started to hurt whenever I walked off and on. It's been a week and it's still hurting at different times...
Last summer I Broke my ankle and I was in a cast for three weeks with no crutches. It was actually just a fracture and a very bad sprain. There's a lot of info so I'm going to separate it so I don't confuse you!
BEFORE CAST:
My ankle hurt really bad one day while tumbling. I kept going because I...
I found this very interesting, but I am a big nerd so I don't know if anyone else will but I wanted to post anyway.
Below is a link to a paper about

My 9yr old has gone up to a higher squad level which means working alot more hours. She has just completed 2 weeks of 5x4.5 hr days of a compulsory gym clinic. The last 2 days she has come home with a sore ankle, limping and saying it hurts.
The coach said she has probably bruised it, and put...
My daughter just learned a back tuck on the beam and is doing a round off full dismount . From doing so many round offs and back tucks on the beam , she has significant bruising along with a " bump " on the inside of her ankle from banging them together . Anyone else experience this ? She ices...
My dd is a new level 4 gymnast. She is really starting to have back pain doing bridges, back bends, back handsprings, etc... She also complains of ankle pain when tumbling and wrist pain when doing back handsprings. Does anyone have any recommendations for doctors in Boston? Do I take her to a...
My son Lv 8 ankles hurt when doing floor we've looked all around but can't find any that fit good. What are the best kind and should we take him to the foot doctor. To see what they think.
She started complaining just after State that her Ankle hurt all the time. Come to find out, back in March, while at a Cheer competition, she rolled her ankle pretty bad, and didnt really tell anyone. She just pushed through it.
So, since she was hurting, we held off on Nationals this...
Hey everyone! So I have hyperextended knees, ankles and elbows but not from an injury I think I was just born that way. The thing is, in some gym moves, I get hurt more easily because of it. For example, when doing a back handspring, my elbows really hurt and I have to be careful not to lock my...
Both of my ankles are bad and I wear braces on both of them for practice. The braces can get annoying and I would like to practice without them but I don't want to injure myself. I also wear tiger paws and I would like to practice without them too. Any tips on strengthening my wrists and ankles??
So in March I fractured my left ankle by rolling it, then around 2.5 weeks ago I minor-ly sprained my right ankle in phys. ed by rolling it. It finally felt better today and I was on tumble track during practice and I rolled my right ankle again. My coach told me to do a lot of toe raises and...
DD sprained her ankle doing a back tuck on beam. Since she fractured that same foot last year I had it xrayed. No fracture but its swollen and sore. Ice, ice and more ice. I want one month of practice without illness or injury.
