The meet turned out pretty good. She wiped out on low bar at the endof practice for some reason, got the wind knocked out of her and hurt her ankle. Couldn't practice on Friday, but competed on Saturday. I was proud of her for getting through everything. Landed her vault in warmup but not...
My baby ended up with an broken ankle yesterday because our 8 month old doberman puppy jumped on her in the morning while she was sleeping. She is devistated knowing that she is potentially going to miss the next 6 weeks of practices and meets, according to the hospital anyway. She goes to the...
Just a reminder to gymnasts and coaches alike that, no matter how seemingly easy the skill, gymnastics on grass- especially an uneven grass surface- is not a good idea. I was playing around on Saturday with some friends when one asked me to demonstrate an aerial. I figured it was easy enough...
Last week I had a really bad fall doing a cast handstand. I forgot to mention that I really hurt my ankle. Right after it happened my friend gave me her ankle brace and I've been wearing it since Thursday when it happened. It has not helped that much and my ankle is really swollen and my leg is...
Just to clarify, I'm not looking for medical advice!
I'm wondering how to properly tape an ankle. My left one has been giving me some trouble, so my coach thinks I should have it taped or put a brace on for a little while. I'm not going the brace way yet, but I will if it continues! Thing is...
Well, it turns out that what ds thought was pain caused by his ankles was actually caused by falling arches. The orthopedist recommended he wear arch supports in his shoes and to keep his shoes on during gymnastics for the next 3 weeks. He's not supposed to do tumbling or vault until his feet...
My ds10 has complained of the inside of his ankle hurting for about a week now. His coach says he just needs to tape it and continue training since there is no swelling or bruising, and he never really did anything like twist it or roll it, it just started hurting. So all last week he trained...
I purchased the cheetah heel cup & ankle support and after only 3 months it's falling apart. Is this typical? Does anyone know of other brands that hold up better?
So a bit of a back story. I have always considered myself to have very strong but very flexible ankles. I danced ballet and did pointe work for many years with no issues as a matter of fact I have never had a sprained ankle before this year.
In January I did a back layout and came down on my...
Well, I will first say that I am not superstitious! I will also say that Friday the 13th is not a good day for my daughter! 2 years ago my daughter broke her ankle for the second time while jumping on the trampoline with her aunt! The ankle was broken the first time when she was 4 in a bike...
Hi everyone! Some of you know I hurt my right ankle really badly at the end of last august and it's finally getting to the point where I feel comfortable doing more jumping on it. The brace I use right now really doesn't do anything because it's just one I had from a prior ankle sprain and it...
Okay before I even start I have seen a medical doctor already. They simply told me my ankle wasn't broken and was either sprained or that I may have ruptured a tendon, either way she said the treatment is the same. I had crutches for a couple days and have a good brace now, but I am now able to...
Last night at highschool practice, I was helping a girl on my team with a cartwheel on beam, because she wanted to get a beam routine. (There are some very low level gymnasts on the highschool team). I was doing a cartwheel, trying to figure something out in the mechanics of it, when I...
I sprained my ankle pretty bad and will need a good brace when I return to gym. I was hoping to find a store that offered several options so I could look at them/try them on but I can't find any so it looks like I might have to try my luck online.
I know a lot of gymnasts wear them so what...
Not asking for medical advice. Just complaining.
Last weekend at her meet, Kathy turned her ankle in floor warm-up (last event, luckily). She made a face, limped a couple of steps, and said "I'm fine" and went on to do her routine (her lowest score on floor this season, but she got through...
I have my first level 8 meet on the first weekend of February, and I'm feeling pretty good about all my events except for vault. I'm usually a pretty good vaulter, but a little while ago I landed short on my piked tsuk and hurt my ankle.
Now I've been very inconsistent on my vault AND...
A while ago I landed short on a piked tsuk and when I landed in forced arch my ankle got really hurt. It hurt to walk on it for a while.
Now when ever I land even slightly short or back tumble my ankle hurts really badly. It's been affecting my tumbling progress and hurting my vault.
Is...
Lately I've been experiencing some pain in my ankles and knees. It's not extremely painful or anything, but I'm just wondering if anyone has tips on stretches or something similar I can do to build up strength in them again.
A few notes:
-I'm 15yr/o, level 4, been doing gym for about 2yrs.
-I...
I have always heard and read that they were bad for kids from an injury standpoint. DD used them for conditioning at her old gym, just 1.5lbs per leg. Today DD worked on her floor routine and they had her use them to work on her leap and split jump. OMG what a difference it made. Still I've...
