Hello!
Hoping someone here can give some advice for an ideal hairstyle that will not affect my DD's back extension roll. Her gym requires a bun, and at a recent meet she caught her bun on the floor while doing a back extension roll in the middle of her routine o_O
Any tips for a bun or ideal...
Looking for tips of the push up into the handstand.
My problem is that I roll into a headstand. How can I push through more?
(Can do an aerial, can't do a back extension roll )
Fair warning, I am old(!)- and when I was a gymnast we couldn't shift our hands in the HS.
I started coaching about 2 years ago, and I have heard and seen different things. Can the gymnast shift their hands from turned in once in handstand?
What are good ways to troubleshoot arch-y backs...
Because of back problems, my coaches and I decided that instead of doing a BWO on beam for lv. 5 that I should do a back extension roll. I need to learn it quickly - I'm in the middle of my season. Anybody have any tips or tricks? I'm having trouble getting my hands on the beam and not rolling...
Are two of these connected in a row worth anything? DD has been doing these in combination as well as a handstand back extension roll combo. She does both passes well. She will be competing the backhandspring not in combo with anything. She is training 7. Just curious what these things are worth.
My daughter is having trouble with this darn roll! Any tips on getting this down? She has watched Youtube videos but can't figure out how to begin it like she sees others do - she is trying to power over using all upper body instead of how others seem to "push" with their feet...how do you do...
Does this meet the Level 6 requirements for beam?. DD was working on it for Level 5 instead of the BWO, but now the team is doing 6 instead. She is doing really well with it. I think it is actually a beautiful skill , but wondering if she can now use it.
I can do a bent and straight arm back extension roll on trampoline, I can do a bent arm on floor, but today I started the straight arm and I can't do it on the ground.
I guess I am definitely strong enough, but I just don't get it.
Is it possible to get a perfect straight arm back extension...

DD's coaches want her to include a back extension-BHS combination on beam and DD began working them yesterday. She is having fun because she likes working skills she doesn't see a whole lot. However, in the mean time, she is tearing the heck out of her skin on her upper back in the center.
Is...
In the new level 5 they do an extension roll, up into a handstand, then finish down on their toes in a pike position. What part on their toes are they suppose to land on in the pike position? The very tips like when you are en pointe or the bottom of the toes like in relieve? It was a big...
Am I the only one with this problem? I can't seem to hit the handstand! My coach gives me some drills, but they don't seem to work:confused:. okay, so the problem is my coach said I don't have enough power in my arms when I roll. I know it sounds confusing. But anyways If you have any...
Literally ANYTHING at all would be so helpful ..
I need conditioning, drills, anything that would help with a back extension roll! I do the push up ones, where you squat and put your hands by your ears and push up to handstand, I don't need the straight arm one until level 6 at my gym (we start...
Okay, I have seen gymnasts at different gyms practice the start of a back extension roll different ways...which of these ways are the correct way?:
-start standing, squat, keeping arms straight up into handstand...
-start standing, squat and quickly push off and extend legs into pike (sometimes...
Apparently the new level 5 will contain an option to do a back extension on the beam or a back walkover, or a bhs. Coaches, gymnasts, experienced parents: what is the value of doing a back extension on beam? Is this something they will do in optional, or does it lead into some kind of an...
My DD has struggled with BWO on beam, so now she has moved on to back extension rolls, she can get to handstand, but splits way early. Once she is in handstand, she is already splitting. What would the deduction be?
Thanks
