    WAG Baby giant

I thought that there was a baby giant in the L5 bar routine, but apparently not (DD just competed that level this fall and when she did that move she called it a baby giant but now she says it wasn't). She now does a similar move, but from a bigger cast, but she comes all the way around, says...

Coaches Long hang kip and baby giant problems

Hi! I coach a group of 9-10 year old girls who are in level C here in Finland. I know it doesn't say anything to you so let me explain. It's the second compulsory level in the order and the first level where kip is needed - sort of. Their routine is done on high bar only (wooden) and it has...

    WAG Finally got the giant

I had posted a while ago about dd's fear of her giant. She finally is doing them on her own. They aren't pretty....but that will come. I'm just so happy she's enjoying practicing again and looks forward to working her new routines. She had her first L7 meet this weekend. No medals, but she only...

WAG How long do you think it takes to learn giants?

On average. Lets say the gymnast has a good cast HS and has competed it several times. Just curious. :)

Parents Spotting giants coach input needed

I have a question about the method used to spot giants. To get right to the point, do coaches avoid touching the buttocks of the gymnast? What is the proper spotting technique? I don't want to get into a lot of detail about why I am asking, but would appreciate responses from other parents.

WAG Level 6 - how many girls do BHS on beam and at least one giant on bars?

Just trying to get a sense for what skills are seen the most. Thanks!

WAG Giants without good Baby Giants?

I want to improve my baby giants so that I can get giants, but I was wondering if anyone on here got their giants without good baby giants. I want to attempt giants above a pit, but I just can't seem to figure out how to shift my wrists at the right time in my baby giant. So, has anyone here got...

    Giants for the first time

So proud of my dd, she's 6 and did giants on her own yesterday for the first time, unfortunately it wasn't in the gym, but at home on her bar in the garden, she has been told that the bar isn't for doing giants on, just to practise swings and other bits, but I was so excited that I couldn't tell...

    WAG Front Giant Dizziness

DD has started working front giants and is getting dizzy doing them. I know there is a trick that ice-skaters use when they spin so they don't get dizzy. Anything for gymnasts?

    WAG Before starting giants

Is it necessary to have a consistent completely vertical kip cast handstand before starting giants?

WAG Wrist switch in back giant

When I hit the top of my giant, my wrists and hands are still underneath the bar. What can I do to fix it? Could this be a reason why I have trouble hitting handstand?

WAG front giant vs. overshoot - which one is easier?

current routine is: glide kip, cast handstand, sole circle to handstand, stalder to handstand, stalder to toe shoot to high bar, long hang kip, cast handstand, free hip to handstand, giant giant, flyaway. I want to add a double back as a dismount and then a half turn plus overshoot or a front...

WAG New Skills (Tsuk, Giant & Back Handspring)

So, Dd went to Flip Fest (week 2). This was her VERY first away camp. And though she was a little home sick in the beginning, she enjoyed herself. But what she enjoyed most was learning new skills. The guest this week were Svetlana Boguinskaia (she's super funny and I love that she worked w/ the...

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has insight on how difficult of a change it is to go from solid strap bar giants to getting solid giants on the real bars. Thanks!

MAG spring goal to learn giant

With States this weekend and regionals in a couple weeks we are looking to set a new goal to train for. Since he will move up to level 6 USAG, Giants and back tuck are the skills to target. With the help of some private lessons to supplement his 4 days a week training, how long should it take...

WAG Chinese tap for front giants

My DD has had her front giant for some time now and its pretty good. Last night coach tells her that he is changing her techinique on this. He wants her to learn it with a Chinese tap. He is not super good with explaining things so I was wondering why he wants to change it and how long it...
