Coaches new 2013 L3 beam handstand.

In the new elements for L3 (would be old l4) Do the girls do a split handstand on beam, or do a full HS and show a split before stepping down? Some of the descriptions are not to clear ;)

Parents New level 3 beam handstand

Do the gymnasts kick up to handstand, then show split before stepping down? Or do they never bring their legs together and remain split throughout the skill?

WAG Cross handstand, legs in split...new level 3

Can someone define this for me? Does the split need to be parallel to the ceiling for it to count with no deduction? Or is this more of a "lever hop" where they can kick up to a partial handstand and never join their feet? Also, after watching the American cup, the elites are no longer able to...

WAG Compete at level 3 or just skip it?

This is my first post here, and am enjoying reading all the different threads from the parents and coaches! My daughter has just switched to a new gym with the original intentions of competing at the new level 3 in Fall 2013. They are now suggesting she compete at the old level 3 for a couple...

Technical video question for coaches/judges/techies (Level 3 Vault)

My daughter is a very good vault competitor, but she seems to be stuck in the 9.45 and 9.50 range on her scores. I took some video from various angles this weekend of her vaulting to analyze. These nine vaults are very representative of her normal vaults and I slowed them down to 1/8 speed. The...

DD's very first meet report! (L3)

Well, my DD just competed in her very first meet this weekend! It was so much fun! She competed Level 3; this is technically their "off-season", but her gym hosts a large invitational every spring. As DD's been with the "old" 3's, we decided to let her compete with her teammates in her first...

    level 3 beam routine

At the meet this weekend, I saw a lot of variation during a part of the routine. I hoped to come here to find a definitive answer. After the gymnasts levers into and out of the handstand, she runs and locks into position to execute a half turn. This is where my question comes from. Some of...

Quick question: Should my DD compete one L3 meet?

Hi again! I have a quick question. DD switched gyms last month, to a group of girls who all just competed L3 in fall. DD's former gym did not compete their 3's, so she has never competed anything, ever. The entire group of girls is competing in one final L3 meet in a few months. It is a big...

Parents preteam level 3 or compete level 3?

Hi My 6.5 yr old daughter has two options with gymnastics right now. I would really appreciate some feedback. One gym would have her at level 3 (learning level 4 routine) preteam. Gym seems a little more serious, but she liked it. It is a pretty new gym/new group of girls for her. 6-7...

    L3 beam dismount question

My dd is in AAU level 3. The beam dismount is the cartwheel to side handstand 1/4 turn. I was just wondering if the gymnast does the cartwheel side handstand but doesn't do the 1/4 turn (so comes straight down landing on the same side they are facing instead of the opposite side) is this...

What's the deduction for kicking or stepping into the pullover at Level 3?

My daughter can do her pullover when she kicks up with one leg, but is about 50% with it when she takes off from two feet. What's the deduction for stepping into it?

L3 Jumping to top of vault table?

Okay, I have seen this happen a time or two when I go to pick up Kadee. (I normaly get there 10-20 mins before the end of practice) She is going to compete L3 this winter/spring. A couple of times I have seen her run as fast as her little legs will take her, spring off the spring board (as much...
