Hi parents and coaches,
Just wondering if it's possible that some gymnasts do not flourish in the compulsory levels but do well later on in the optional levels?
Thanks!
Kate
There are always a couple of parents that I notice recording everyone on the team's scores. Why is this important to them? Of course I cheer for the other kids but I'm not at all interested in their scores and don't really understand why anyone would be. I do notice cut-off score for...
Have you guys ever wondered if judges are biased by the previous event's score? For instance, as a booster club volunteer, I sat next to the floor judge and I heard her commenting to the other judge "bad vault. ", "great beam", or "poor girl is having a rough meet".
Granted this judge has been...
Anyone had any experience with their gymmie going to level 6 if they had a lower level 5 score? My daughter is a 12 year old. Finished level 4 in May. No previous uptraining for level 5 prior to that. Plan as of now is to score out of level 5 and go on to 6 in January. Problem is, fear...
Hi there ,
Can anyone tell me how much the state tops cut off scores fluctuate from year to year? I've looked and looked and can't find an answer. Thanks in advance
L5 seems to be pretty commonly low-scoring in the grand scheme of things. My DD won 3 meets with mid-35 AA's, and she had been getting 36-37 in old and new 4.
Is it possible that her scores could bounce back up when she goes into L7? Assuming good solid training, no injuries or obvious...
My dd competed level 2 last year and is moving to bronze this year. Our gym competes level 2, then bronze, silver, gold. After that they can chose if they want to go to optionals or stay in xcel. They just had a score out which I am not familiar with. I am assuming it is to see what level the...
Hey all does it happen often that scores don't match awards? My DD had her first meet last weekend and got 4 silvers and a 5th on beam ( she fell)
Our gym posted the scores and according to that she would have gotten gold on bars
She is young (7) and it was my understanding that they were not...
Has anyone heard about Gymnastics Ontario implementing move up scores? Meaning, if a gymnast has an average score from the qualifiers and/or at provincials that is above a certain threshold then they must move up to the next level?
What criteria or score does your gym require for boys to move to the next level?
Our gym is moving from evaluating each boy's skills and situation independently to a hardline score, so I'm wondering how other gyms handle this.
Just a curiosity question. I "think" I'm right, but I'd like to hear from someone who knows.
Do I have it right that to do USAG optionals from AAU, they need to score out of USAG compulsories?
Last meet, there was a team that previous scores showed levels of 7A and 8A. Then last month L4...
My 12 year old L9 didnt qualify this year . She needed a 32AA . She didn't do AA until the last meet of the season due to injury and she didn't make it (31.3) . I saw in another post that to qualify for states , someone needed a 29? So I was just curious if it differed state to state . We live...
Do you think the optional levels generally have higher scoring? A few of our 5's just moved up to 6 and their 6 scores are already higher than they were getting in 5.
Our gym is all wonky on levels due to a big coach change last fall. Our old coach hated the new level 6, so a bunch of girls scored out of 5 and went to 7, but she also kept a bunch of old 4s "back" at level 3 last year. Our new coach had those girls score out of 4 over the summer and compete 5...
Our compulsory teams compete USAG in the fall and AAU in the spring. Due to coach changes last fall, our L4/5 had a really rough fall season, with very few even qualifying for states (AA 32). Things have improved and my DDs rocked their last USAG meets but several teammates have not been...
