So DS is having wrist arthroscopic surgery next week. They said 30 to 45 minutes under local anethesia. I am so nervous!!!
It is the last hope for him to be able to continue gymnastics.
I pray it works! DS only wants to be in the gym, but until he is better, he is not going....we all agreed...
After 3 hand specialists, we are 100% sure of what's going on. He chipped a bone in his wrist and now it floats.
Dr. Thinks it MAY be fine to leave it the way it is, IF we can get the pain to go away. He said many people are fine with floating bone fragments ( I doubt gymnasts!) so...
Hi guys:). I'm currently sitting in a hospital bed typing this haha. I got my appendix taken out 2 nights ago. They're saying I might need to take a month or a month and a half off. Would this make me lose any skills? I'm level 5 and would be okay to go in to just condition? I'm dieting without...
I have been a gymnast for a couple of years I'm not that elite but I'd like to be. In september of 2011 I got a cyst on my wrist. I stuck through the pain so I would be able to do gymnastics and I finally went to the doc and they drained it. A couple months ago I got another one on the same...
Seven weeks since surgery!I feel like I'm doing well and I can feel improvement each and every PT appointment although my therapist isn't exactly thrilled with my progress, But the surgeon was pretty happy. The pool therapy is definitely helping.I missed the first two weeks of the last trimester...
My ACL reconstruction went well yesterday. My pain was well controlled thanks to a nerve block (pain pump type thing) that I had put in,So I cant feel the front of my leg at all(weird sensation I must add).I had a rough morning though and had to have the nerve block turned up all the way as well...
Im so nervous. Its surgery tomorrow at 6:30 am to repair a torn ligament in my ankle (it was supposed to be done right after Halloween but I didn't want to be over the holidays with crutches). I'll be on crutches until at least June. 6 - 8 weeks in a cast if all goes well then 6 - 8 weeks in...
Has anyone had any experience with ganglion cyst surgery and whether or not it was successful in getting rid of reducing the severe pain associated with it?
My 11 year L5 gymnast has had wrist pain for 2 years. 3 months ago she stopped tumbling, vaulting and unevens. She has been working on...
I took Baby Bog back to see the spine surgeon for her four month post op check up after a spinal fusion. Her pain has now gone, after two years! The xrays showed bone growth begining and at this point things are looking vey good.
BB is now allowed to start bike riding and swimming. Which is...
I came back home and my doctor said I needed surgery. I have grade 4 (the highest it goes before your vertebra falls off) spondylolisthesis which is no fun at all.
So I'm just lying at my mommy's in the scenic Colorado mountains... in bed watching everyone else hike and raft and bike. Oh well...
BBB had her two month post surgery check up yesterday. She is doing great and her flexibility is very good and pain free. She has four more months of doing nothing until she will be released for sports etc. SO long and boring for a teenager, she misses her muscles!!:D
But she is totally pain...
Only good news to report on BB's recovery. She is three weeks out from the surgery and is completely medication free and says she has none of the pain that haunted her for years before. She has slight pain from the bone graft site, totally normal.
BB had a seroma on her incision, she had that...
Haven't been around much for several weeks. Between work, gym and Em's school it's been crazy in our house. Poor Em has continued to have a lot of pain in her knee, and she and her coach finally decided there would be no more competing this year, and Em would ease up for a bit and see if her...

I'm having surgery next Friday to reconstruct my knee which I blew out after finally getting my layout full at 41. It's been a tough 7 weeks so far not being able to tumble.
I can use all the good vibes I can get.
Here is a link to my recovery blog:
Torn ACL - Gymnastics - My Story...
Ok, I am finally having my ACL and possible meniscus fix surgery tomorrow! I'm actually a little excited b/c I have been walking around with this since April, and I have continued training-albeit lightly-as well, so hopefully tomorrow is going to be a peace of cake! Hopefully recovery goes well...
So i injured my knee about 2 weeks ago on floor and i thought it was just a sprain... got back up and walked away, went and tried to compete at Westerns, and died on first event, beam. Found out 8 days ago that i might have torn my acl, got a mri two days later, got the results the next day...
Ok, so. Back in august, I underrotated a double layout on floor and overshot the mat I was supposed to land on, landing right on the edge. One foot was forced up much further than it was supposed to go. Went to the emergency room, yadda yadda yadda, stayed off it for several months but...
She came out of the OR at 12:15 and we discharged from the hospital by 1:30! The nurses were amazed at how well she did on crutches--uh, she's a gymnast and has fairly good balance ;). Doing well getting around home--she stopped by the gym on Saturday and will go Monday to work out...
