Helllo! I currently coach an in-house recreational team. My bronzes just cannot figure out how not to pike going into their handstand flatback on vault. I have tried e v e r y t h i n g that I can think of to help them, but nothing is clicking. It is certainly not that they don’t have the strength for it! I’ve had them diving into it over a block, a barrel, etc. to get them to reach up and rely on their heel drive to get into their handstand, but it just persists. What have you found that has worked for your gymnasts when it comes to this?

Here is a fun one from a post a while back...

I like the step punch idea! I have them do supergirls (what I call this drill haha) to both a handstand on a wall and into flatback and they do wonderfully! But I think the step punch is a great idea that would help! Thank you🙏🏼

This...

I'll find some more things too.

Here is my go to setup for that... from the black box... jump down to the mini-tramp... handstand to back on the 8" stack. You can make the stack different sizes. The point is I do this with the mini-tramp slanted down towards the landing mats all the time...
