Handspring is a 9.7. At our gym, we prioritize the handspring twisting vaults in our progressions for excel, as they also transfer over well to the high school values in our state, and a lot of our athletes do both high school and Xcel gym. Our platinums also only train 5.5 hours per week, with the option to add a third 2h45m practice each week. Most of our platinums compete at least one handspring and then if they have a handspring 1/2 off, one of those as well. The handspring 1/2 off has a 9.9 SV and the handspring full off starts from a 10.

A handspring done well can easily outscore a mediocre twisting vault. And the foundation of a strong handspring makes the twisting off easier.

As a bonus, the handspring 1/2 off has a 9.8 SV even in Xcel diamond, and the handspring full off has a 10.0 start in diamond. So they're great progressive vaults to be working.
