My dd just switched gyms. She learned to do a cast handstand with her thumb wrapped around the bar on the opposite side from her fingers. Her new coach wants her thumb next to her fingers, and dd is afraid she's going to fall.
Is keeping your thumb next to your fingers the prefered way?
My kips have improved a LOT over the past couple of months, but the problem is, I'll do a nice straight arm kip, and then... nothing. I'm just on the bar. Or worse, my hips won't even be all the way on the bar and I'll kind plop down on the bar after the kip (not possible to cast out of that). I...

My DD's cast should be coming off either this week or in the next couple of weeks. We want to make sure that it is 100% before we take it off prematurely. She dislocated her wrist and had it placed back into place almost 6 weeks ago. The doctor tells us that after it is off she is to wear some...
and her pin in out. It was weird--he just wiggled it a little to loosen it and pulled it out. Yes, it hurt (according to Beth).
Good news--she's on weight bearing as tolerated now--in her boot. Bad news (according to her) is that we don't go back for another 2.5 weeks, so it'll be that long...
