One of my athletes stags her leg going into her split leap. She hits 180 and it's a gorgeous leap other than the stag, which is still pretty. Since we moved to Xcel, I haven't been haring on her about the stag because I thought it would be allowed, but at our judge's critique one of the judges...
Hello all (:
I'm currently the head coach for a new Xcel group and I have a question regarding floor passes for the Silver Level.
A couple of my girls are not able to compete a solid round-off Back-Handspring pass (Required - 2 Acro skills connected. One with flight). I've been searching all...
This is my first season and I need to find my floor music within a couple days! It has to be a minute long. I'm good at dance and flexibility and grace and I am tall and old for a gymnast. I really like Katelyn Ohashi's 2012 floor music "Onegin's theme" and Nastia Liukin's 2008 music. I would...
My dd is in Bronze. We have one more meet bf states and regionals. Then next year is Silver! I've looked online and most of the time I see that once a girl is in Xcel, she is stuck there. I am very much confused. Can my dd go to jo at some point later (after platinum). I really want her to...
I was bored so I decided to look through the code of points, and I saw a 'B' level skill. It's a full turn, but you don't put your foot down, and go to a scale. I want it in my floor routine, but I might not be allowed to..
Does anyone know? I'd appreciate it.

What's the worst that...
Hello!! So I was just informed by my coach that I may be able to compete Prep-Op next year but she's from PA and is not familiar with Region 5 Prep-Op.
So, from what I can tell I would be a Prep-Op Silver (In between level 5 and 6 ish)
But from videos on youtube some prep-op silver routines are...
I just got home a couple of hours ago from my 2nd Silver meet this season!!
Overall, I think I had a great meet. The meet was a little less than an hour and a half behind, so, when we got there 30 minutes before Open Stretch was supposed to start, We had to wait quite a while.
Warm ups went...
Cam's first Silver floor was a bit shaky, but she did great overall! So hard after being out of the gym over the holidays and she learned the second half of her routine Wed, competed Sunday! Such a trooper! Cam's five (almost 6) and trains Prep in NC! GO CAM...
Coaches leaving seems to be part of the game in gymnastics. It certainly doesn't pay that well and most of the lower level coaches seem to be young and starting out. We don't have a ton of turnover at our gym, but the beloved compulsory coach left us about a month ago. Personally, I think...
Worlds are exciting, but T&T has some excitement going on also: Kalon Ludvigson took the first USA tumbling medal at a world cup event. Link RemovedKalon also set a new world record in the qualification round (wow!) I found one of his passes on Youtube. I am always amazed at these power tumbling...
I haven’t been around much life has been hectic with being back at work full time and beyond, being an involved mom, and trying to release some SuperMom expectations [my own my husband and kids seem to be so much more forgiving]. It helps that my husband truly is SuperDad I’m even making...
My dd had her first prep op silver meet this weekend. She did great. Her vault was low (8.2), but it was her first time competing it so I'm not worried. Beam was great (8.85) and floor was a 9.2. She still is finishing before her music, but everything was clean. Her ro/bhs was great. She...
DD has her first meet of the season on Sunday. She is competing Prep Silver. She could really use all the tight body, straight leg & pointed toe fairies we can find !!!
The stinky part Is we are the only team competing prep op @ this meet, so she will be competing against her teammates : (...
Before the gymnast puts much weight on her arms she should already be on the way to the handstand. The momentum or kip action of rolling back and extending up gives a moment of weightlessness. That's the moment that the gymnast can effortlessly get to the handstand and thereafter, catch her...
Spotting helps the gymnast get the feel for the proper technique, timing, and motion, but doing it, even with a spot, will help develop the necessary muscles.
Back extension rolls are good drills. Using blocks and other props are good.
Drop early, be aggressive.
I've heard it all.
But...
Could someone give me some examples of an acro series with 3 flight elements for Prep Opt Silver? I know round off, backhandspring, backhandspring would be one. What are some other choices?
Another GREAT meet....
I am not sure how she keeps doing it, but her All Around score keeps getting higher and higher. She is not even halfway through her meet season and she is already beyond what I was hoping for at States which are not until March. I am starting to wonder when it is going...
