The link below shows the USAG Athlete Member breakdown or statistics. It is dated March 1, 2007. So, it has been a few years. Many of you have probably seen it already. But I thought I'd post it for those you've not seen it and are interested, just for reference.

WOW Texas and California numbers are huge!!! (where's the eek icon when you need it LOL)
 
Wow--that's some interesting information! I find the last few pages particularly interesting for the women's program:

5 & under 0.1%
6-8 YO 8.4%
9-10 YO 25.3%
11-12 YO 30.4%
13-14 YO 20.8%
15-16 YO 9.8%
17-18 YO 4.3%
19-20 YO 0.6%
21-30 YO 0.2%
31-82 YO 0.0%

You can clearly see the dramatic decrease of gymnasts by the age of 15 when high school starts for most kids. Very interesting.
 
That is very interesting. I also noticed the large decline in athletes as the progress through their teens
