Does anyone know what a front handspring on beam is worth? my guess is that is a "B" or "C" skill but i'm not sure. Also I've herd it counts as a flight skill..... does it?
I'm working on a front handspring step-out for my level 7 beam routine, since no other flight skill is viable for me at this point and my FHS is pretty good. My problem is that I'm terrified of it! I can do it sometimes on the low beam with no mats around it, but sometimes I need a panel mat on...
Hello,
Wondering if anyone has advice or drill suggestions for front handsprings on the floor for someone who dives into it too much and uses back flexibility instead of pop to stand up.
I have years of bad habit in front handsprings that I'm trying to correct. :D I've been doing double hop...
So, I have my FHS just fine over the table.. (Scoring in the low 9's)
But I want to get it A LOT better and im wondering if anyone knows some tricks??
This is what I need help with-
1. Understanding how to get your feet in front on the board
2. Going UP
3. Hitting handstand! :p

Looking for front handspring drills that 6/7 year olds could do.
They are just starting and tend to land in a squat. So far: I've been spotting them thru the motions slowly, been having them try them off a panel mat or crash mat onto the floor, been having them do flysprings on tumble track...
i have a few level 5's who cant get their feet together in the front handspring. as a result, they end up doing a handspring step out. i have them doing drills that make them stretch before the put their hands down and blocking drills. Some of them end up whipping to stand up and land in a...

Okay, so I used to have my front handspring 20% of the time on any floor about 5 years ago... The 80% of the time I didn't land it, I ended up flat on my back in dear pain. Thanks to that, I am now PETRIFIED to do a front handspring without spot. It's so bad that if my coach asks me to do one...
Hi everyone,
I coach rec gymnastics and have most of my girls succesfully doing handstand flatbacks on the vaulting table. Some of them are ready to move onto the next step. What can I use as a drill for front handspring vaults before taking away all the stacked mats (and making it a true...
Anyone know how to word how to do a front handspring?
I understand that you have to pull your hips out and you need to punch the mat, but does anyone have anymore pointers on how to do this trick?
Im running low on ideas and need some help!
I coach a level 5 team. My new level 5s learned how to vault over the summer. Most picked up the concept quickly and can successfully make it over with no spot. But some are still very ugly.
Ex: Slow run, stutering before the board, Bent knees, no...
Okay I just got my kip (yay!) so now I need my vault to move up to team. Well the problem is I just can't seem to do it... I run fast and I'm not really all that scared or anything, but it feels like I can't get enough momentum. D: Anyone have any tips? I have trouble reaching out, too...
I was wondering how difficult it is to do a front handspring front layout full or front handspring front flip front flip. I can do a full just fine on tumble track, but I've never tried to rebound before on floor. I can also do the front tuck front layout on tumble track fine. I want to know how...
I am new at teaching these skills and I was looking for some creative drills to incorporate into my lessons. These drills can involve any floor drills using wedges, mats, traps, or blocks, can also involve tumble tracks, pit mats, and even the pit.
THANK YOU!
I have a question for coaches. When you are teaching gymnasts to do the front handspring vault (ones who haven't done it before), how do you set the vault table? Would you start them on a low table, have them perfect the vault on that and then move it up? Would you have them learn the vault...
Well.. it was started, so Ill take the time to begin.
As a highschool coach, I have limited time with my athletes to perfect skills, so I work on making circuits that re-enforce body motion, awareness, and flexibility.
To begin my progression, I start by teaching a handstand. While this...
I was wondering about getting a job at the gym to cover some of my bills you know. Can anyone tell me what to expect?
Problems with front handsprings on vault. I have been trying to get my front handsprings over but I can't, I just get stuck right at the handstand. I hold it for a long...
I have a good run up and a perfect form handstand on the vault, I just can't seem to get over. The coaches at my gym say I need to reach farther up on the vault. I've tried moving the springboard and mini tramp back a bit, and I've tried picking a spot on the vault, or just beyond it, and...
I'm coaching a small team at a new gym, just Levels 4-5 this year. I inherited a couple girls from a different gym, and they both have a weird bad habit that I'm having trouble breaking...
Both have pretty good technique overall on many things. But for some reason, they are both doing a...
