I'm really trying to get my back hip circles, but once I start to swing around the bar and my back is almost parallel to the floor, I drop down and if my hands aren't still on the the bar, I land on my back. How do I stay on the bar the whole time?
My dd is competing level 4 this year. She can complete her front hip circle almost every time, but it is not "pretty". She can not do it with straight arms and most of the time ends up with the bar high up on her chest
at the completion, making it difficult to connect to a cast. Her coach has...
Hello! I got grips a couple weeks ago (maybe 4? but I'm only in the gym 1 maybe 2 days a week)
For the first bit I simply swung on the highbar doing tap swings and such in them to get used to them and to wear them in.
Now to the actual question:
When you wear dowel grips (I have...
My dd has been struggling with her front hip circle for a few months now. She is getting really close but still can't quite coplete it yet. Her coach says that all she needs is "a 2 finger spot" at the end of the skill and she makes it, but if she doesn't get that little bit of help (basically...
I had my back hip circle and did it like, 2 times. Now, I still can't do it and really need help with it. What's something that could help me with doing them. I am very close and don't know what I am doing wrong. Anything helps!
Thanks!
My DD has bad her back hip circle for quite a while, but just lately has started "overshooting" it (piking at the end), and then falling off the bar. Any tips to help her overcome that issue? thanks!
Ok, well i was thinking about it the other day and can't figure out WHY there is a front hip circle in American routines due to the progressions surely the aim of a learning the kip (in part) is to be able to get a decent cast out of it and i am no coach so i am probably entirely wrong but i was...
i know there was a previous thread about this skill but it wasnt quite what i was looking for. i cant seem to get my girls to wrap themselves around the bar in the circle. they cant get the concept of fall till horizontal then nose to knees. are there and drills for this? or is it just practice...
My six year old, level 3 dd is just starting to work on her front hip circle. She understands the basic idea behind it but is still having trouble completing the skill. She does okay with a spot but if she tries herself, she can't quite complete the skill yet. My concern is that she sometimes...
whenever i do my front hip circle, i can never cast out of it ( sometimes, but not very high.) My coach said i had to cast to horizontal or higher out of the front hip circle. What am i doing wrong that doesnt let me get a cast out of it?
My 7 yeard old DD came home from camp today with two small bruises on her hip bones. (right side and left side) She was working bars today specifically her back hip circle. She has it herself now. Is this normal? I will check with the staff at her gym tomorrow for sue but just wondering as I've...
Hi. My daughter just turned six and is on pre-team. She is trying really hard to get her back hip circle but is having a difficult time staying "on the bar". If I help her, she does fine, but when she tries it on her own she has a hard time keeping her body close to the bar and can't complete...
Both level 4 girls got the front hop circles on bars yesterday. :) They were grinning ear to ear. Both girls need the dismount on bars and they will have the whole routine down and just need to work on cleaning it up. :)
Ok, so I'm USAG level 4, training 5/6. I have very solid routines on everything but bars. I've fallen on every skill in meets except for my glide pullover and mill circle. The most I've fallen in one routine in twice. Right now, bars is looking pretty good except for my back hip circle. I have...

My daughter (six and a half) and I are headed to open gym tomorrow afternoon and I'd like her to work on her back hip circle (she almost has it all by herself) I am looking for some tips on how to properly spot her. The gym we are going to has parents supervise gymnasts (i know not the...
Today was my 4th week coaching at the gym by my college, and I'm really really excited to say that one of my level 2s got her back hip circle by herself today!
Yes, I've been coaching for almost two years now, but today is the first time that I have felt like I had a direct effect on one...
