Hi All:
My DD is 6 and did not complete a TOPs test yet, however our coach has given us a heads up that for 2011 she is confident she will be ready. She'll be 7 in Nov. I know the testing is held in June and July, however when and how are you notified of selection? Thanks in advance! :unitedstates:
Hi. I am new to chalk bucket. I was surfing the web and picked up some great information from some of you. I am also pretty new to gymnastics. One of my four children is a 9 year old gymnast on her 3rd year in the team. She will be a level 6 this year and may go to level 7 later this year...

Ok here's a quick little post to let you all know (those who are interested) how Liv's last test went. We are currently on a road trip vacation and don't have much time to responded properly but.....I'll do my best and check in occationally.
She started on handstand hold. She ALWAYs pratices...
So, after what seemed like a two second break between the end of meet season and Cait's next thing, TOPs Testing is upon us. She has been working really hard and not taking anything for granted. I wasn't sure if she would be able to stay motivated after going down the ranch last year, but she is...
If the tops program is something that is an option for a gymnast, at what age is it optimal for a gymnast to start training tops? There seems to be some debate over what age is healthiest for a gymnast. Some say 5 or younger, some say 6 or older. What are the pros and cons for each?
I have seen the term TOPS and I read a little about TOPS but I still don't quite understand the program. How does a girl get tested for TOPS? What is the benefits of the program? What age and level? What is it all about?
Thanks!
Well, we survived the first testing!!
Liv woke up very excited and was up early and ready to go!! I on the other hand was a nervous wreck!!!
She started on Cast Handstands which she started going veritcal on a couple weeks ago. However for testing purposes she was advised to NOT hit...
My dd will be 5 this week. Is it more beneficial to compete level 3 with that being the sole focus of her year or would it be more beneficial to do tops training and focus on uptraining? I know that she will get a lot of positives out of both but I am wondering what the pros and cons are from...
I looked around a little, and had not seen mention of the 8 year old skills recently included in USAG TOPs, and them (8 yr olds) now being allowed to go to National Testing. So, I thought I would mention and ask:

What do you think is the right age range for tops?I want to join because it would help a lot but do you think i would be to old? (I dont like to give out info but i am 13-15 yrs old) :)
Just wondering what TOPS training looks like at your gym (if they have it). Here are my questions:
1. How many hours a week are dedicated to TOPS training?
2. Is there a dedicated day that TOPS training takes place?
3. Do you have girls regularly make it to National Testing or make a...
I have an 8 y/o dd who has been involved in some form of gymnastics since she was 18mos old. She's now part of our TOPs program - the gym implemented the program last August so she's been training 5.5 hrs per week for about a year and a half now.
We're still struggling with many of the skills...
Don't you hate it when you type a long thought out post and then hit some key stroke that erases everything and then you don't have the desire to type the whole thing over again...
That being said, here is the reader's digest version of the last few days....
In Disney World since Thursday

Hello All, we found out Friday that my daughter missed the cutoff for B camp by two tenths of a point. Needless to say it was a very long weekend. The sad part is she was on B team last year and she was hoping to make it to A team this year. After the tears stopped and the self-esteem was...
Has anyone ever heard of gymnasts under the age of 7 doing the TOPs program? I understand they can not test but are they allowed to train at 5 years old? What is Baby TOPs? Is it for gymnasts not on a team or for gymnast under the age of 7 years old or for both?
