    Arm circles before vaulting

I have a lot of trouble with doing arm circles before vaulting, it messes me up. I'm kinda starting to get it down, but I do so much better without them. I noticed Yelena Produnova doesn't do an arm circle and she manages to get a double front around. Do they really help?

    Circles on the mushroom?

DS needs these for a competion in a few weeks. He can do 3/4 quite well but just cannot manage a full circle. Coach says he is just so close and that it has to "just click in his head". Any tips ? or drills he can practice at home that may help?

    Back hip circles

Hi. My daughter just turned six and is on pre-team. She is trying really hard to get her back hip circle but is having a difficult time staying "on the bar". If I help her, she does fine, but when she tries it on her own she has a hard time keeping her body close to the bar and can't complete...

Teaching mill circles and front hip circles

Quick background--I coach a group of preteam kids, mainly levels 1 and 2. Our gym policy is that kids cannot move up to the next level until they have all the skills for that level--no exceptions. Our level 1's practice 1.5 hours/week and our level 2s practice 3 hrs/week. The biggest skill...

    Stoop Circles??

How in the world do you do a stoop circle? I am a level 6 and on my squat on i fall backwards sometimes, and my coach said i need to learn a stoop circle. I am really scared my hands will slip off the bar. But i still just can't get even close to going all the way around the bar! Help?

Hi i have been having a hard time getting my back hip circles.I have to do a pullover, 3-5 casts and then the backhip circle but for some reason my casts are good until i get to the last one before the back hip circle, and then my elbows give out. From Mushroom circles to flairs

DS has circles pretty much down......how can he start transitioning to flairs??? Whenever he even begins to separate his legs, it throws the whole thing off.... It is like the opposite of nice straight tight M circles:confused:..... thanks

    Front Hip Circles

Hi, I am new here and looking for a little advice. My daughter is really struggling with the front hip circle. It seems to me that she does not get the momentum she needs to get all the way around and she is pulling away from the bar instead of down on the bar so her body ends up away from the...

    Coaches Stalder Circles

I was thinking about starting these with my gymnasts, but I have no idea how to start. Does anyone have some basic drills that I could set them up with to begin training them? Thanks!:o

    Pullovers and back hip circles

So I manged to do my first pullovers last night, though with quite a bit of help-I was awfully proud of myself. However, I was wondering, what is some good conditioning to do so I will be able to do these a little more gracefully sooner rather than later? Also, on my back hip circles, I noticed...

    Coaches Uphills and Sole Circles

So.. Ive taught both before... but Im drawing a blank on some peices and I need some help. One, the easier of the two - other than pulling the bar and pushing the feet into the bar, what helps speed up a sole circle so it can end in a stand? I cant recall if the shoulders actuate anything...

    Front Hip Circles

Hello all, as a former male gymnast I have not had much use for front hip circles. I did a few of them but they were never in any of my routines and when I did optionals I never needed them. Fast-forward to today. 90% of my classes are with (you guessed it) girls. Front hip circles are a...

    Sole Circles

I been looking at what else beside a giant that I could possibly do for level 7 next year (hopefully!) or at some point. I know clear hips...but mines are kind of sloppy (the coaches are being kind of confusing about it...I don't get how to do the "drop the shoulders aggressively" part...then...

    Sole Circles

Any tips on sole circles?? I've got a girl who's really close. She's got a nice pike on, a good pull back on the bar and gets almost around but can't quite stand back up on the bar.

    Coaches Front-hip, back-hip, and clear-hip circles

I've never fully understood the physics of front and back hip circles. I've just been teaching the techniques I've been taught without fully understanding why they work. It seems to me that the skill should require massive shoulder and ab strength to get around the bottom part of the circle, but...

drills for front hip circles on bars

Hi everyone -- I have a young girl who just cannot quite get her front hip circle on bars. I've run out of things to tell her and I'm not helping her improve because I say the same things over and over. I was wondering if anyone has certain words or corrections they use to help explain to a...

Coaches Technique Discussion: Arm Circles on Front Salto (floor exercise)

The level 5 men's vault is a front tuck (no vault table) off a spring board with an arms circle that ends below shoulder height. How does this relate to a front tuck on floor? While I do not teach an arm circle for a front tuck on floor I have seen some gyms that do. What are the advantages...
