I recently cut my hair into a short bob. However, I did not think about how this would affect my gymnastics. My hair is too long to leave up, especially for competitions, but doesn't fit in a ponytail. I haven't had a problem yet because I've missed practice for various reasons last week, but I...
This year, I've started to become interested in acrobatic gymnastics. I am thinking about joining, but I don't want to quit artistic either. So my questions are: about how many hours do acro gymnasts practice weekly? Is doing both feasible? Also, is there anywhere you can find a list of gyms...
So I just learned how to make websites, and I decided I wanted to practice by making a gymnastics website. :) The problem is, I need some ideas of what to put on the website. I was thinking of putting descriptions, values, and videos of different skills, as well as putting the requirements for...
I know there are many threads similar to this, but I haven't really heard if my situation before. For many years, I would occasionally get a sharp pain in the middle of my foot. This happened once every year or so, and the pain went away very quickly. I've always ignored it because of how rare...
Everyone that is or has been in my group have hated conditioning so much that when it's time to condition, everyone starts to complain even more than usual. :p I thought that almost everyone in gymnastics hated conditioning this much, but some of the posts on here make it sound like they or...
I'm competing at states Sunday, and I'm a little nervous for my floor routine. Earlier this year I competed a FHSFT, but it wasn't consistent enough so I took it out. I finally got it consistent enough to put in the last meet before states, but I fell on that for some reason too. :( When I did...
Bars is my worst event, and we seem to always end on it so I'm always kind of disappointed at the end of practice, but I had a great bar day today. :) I almost got my cast handstand and almost got my giants on straps! I'm so close and for once can't wait to go back to bars. Then when I got home...
Whenever I do a back handspring, my feet always seperate, then go back together for the end. I don't know how to fix it. :( I've had by back handspring for years, but I don't know when it started to be a problem. They still are apart in my ROBHS but it's not as noticeable as my standing BHS...
Has anyone else had issues with the sizing on their grips? My brother and I both measured correctly, and we both got grips that were way too big.I was wondering if this was common, or if we were super unlucky. After I put them on my brother said they were good enough because I wasn't doing...
I'm going to be getting my first pair of grips, and I have some questions.
1.Is there any way of getting around sandpapering the finger holes? I'm really weird, and can't stand the feel of sandpaper. Whenever anyone pulls it out I run the other way. :p
2.About how long did it take for the grips...
I saw somewhere that if you were in Xcel and wanted to go to JO, you would have to start at level 4. Is this true if you already competed level 4 at an earlier time, or would you not be allowed to start at a higher level?
I've seen many places that say to never twist as soon as you leave the ground. Is this true in an arabian? It looks to me like you twist right from the ground, but are you supposed to wait a little before you twist?
Which conditioning exercises that specifically help bars that I can do at home? I need extreme help with bars, and I think some of it is strength and not a very good understanding of the positions I need.
I always thought it did, but in my first competition it seemed like the opposite. Was that just a coincidence, or does it actually score harder?(in general, I know there will be some where it varies)
Is there any way to determine which way you twist without doing twisting flips? I would use which way my jump go bit they're all different. Some I twist right and some I twist left.
When conditioning do you gain more strength by doing many at once, doing the same amount but in sets, or is it equal?
For example is it better to do 30 push-ups, 2 sets of 15, or is it equal?
I can do an okay free hip, but after the free hip, I can't flip my wrists for the kip. Has anyone else had this problem, and if you did, how did you fix it?
