Speaking as a judge as well as coach - at any meet if the music cuts out for any reason the gymnast is allowed to repeat her floor routine (the coach has to make the decision of having the gymnast redo the routine without knowing what the routine scored in the case of the girl finishing it and...
I know of many gyms in my area that not only condition similarly but also condition WAY more than what is listed in the OP's message. I do not think it's overboard but obviously the actual workout itself would have to be observed to give a "real" opinion on it.
What I am not sure of is...
Hello other coaches (athletes are also welcome to add their input!)
I am just curious. I have friends who coach at three other major gyms in my area, while I coach at the fourth. All of us are team coaches and we have a vault/front handspring level.
We all disagree with the board placement on...
So.
Who else is gonna be there? :D
First time going to a National Congress...(been to plenty of regional ones)
If there was already a thread on this, I'm sorry I didn't find it with the search function!
The compulsory season is, for the most part, over. And with it, I have a few entertaining stories to share with the CB community from a judge’s perspective.

@CoachGoofy
You show amazing restraint...
If someone even DARED trying to pull that stunt on warm ups by taking 1/3rd of the floor with their team (and they weren't 1/3 of the meet), you would see my face in the paper!

Gymdog got it exactly right…Judging is not always as transparent as some people would like to think it would be.
A fall is .5, however say a kid doesn’t fall but...
she arches on her casts (up to .2),
has leg separation on her cast (up to .2)
has bent legs (up to .3),
bent arms (up...
Lol!
While necro'ing threads from the dead (2 years is very dead!)is a bad thing, I would like to point out something before everyone else starts jumping down her throat....
The only way she could have found this thread was by using the search engine....which is something that isn't done enough :P
As a humorous side note, when I told my employer I was testing Compulsory and Optionals she told me, "That's crazy, no one does that...just do compulsories"
O ye, of little faith haha
Hello! I just got the results back from my judging accreditation - and gym quest was helpful to an extent.
At the moment you have to join a yahoo group (you can just create a fake yahoo email address/id to do this) and when you're on the groups "page" there will be links on the left side of...
The bolded part.
This drill is very good for teaching the athletes to set instead of leaning forward immediately into the handstand flat. The take off for a straight jump (a good set) and a handstand flat are the exact same, however this is tough for kids to understand, as one is going UP and...
I check my e-mail a lot. (At least 10 times a day) If not I run the risk of missing something from my employer/manager/team parent, judging director/assigner.... the list goes on. Oh, and every time I check it, I have a new e-mail - so it's not an unfounded paranoia (it's not always "important"...
