dd come back from training tonight and asked me specifically (and obviously i dont know!) how to stretch the lower quadricep from half way down the thigh to the knee - and also the muscle above the achilles tendon but below the gastrocnemious (sp?)
she is training hard for a comp in 2 weeks -...
I recently took at new job as a Rec Director at a new gym even though I've been a team coach for many years. My daughter came with me as a new Level 7 and I've always been one of her coaching team. When we came to this new gym, she was ready to compete Level 7 right away, with completed routines...
Ugh!!! I hate it sooooooo much when my coach sits around talking to her favorite gymnast for 30 minutes (on top of the vault table when I'm trying to vault) and half the time it's not even about gymnastics, it's about her new boyfriend she meet over christmas break or what ever!!! It gets so...
Hey, well this year one of the coaches on the level 3 squad was taken by the head coach to coach the boys and leaves not enough coaches on the level 3 squad so starting saturday I will be coaching the level 3s 1 day per week for 3 hours :) I am really excited because not only is it a job it is a...
what's the average number of coaches on the floor during practice? my daughter's gym usually only has 1 coach work with her entire level 4 team - 11 girls. That seems like a very low ratio to me and i'm wondering what's "normal."
I have a new pre-comp group and I also just came back to coaching gymnastics (its been a few years since I coached last) And everything is a lot different.
I have a couple problems that I am tryign to fix but I do not know how to exactly If ny one could help that would be great!
I have one...
Coaches leaving seems to be part of the game in gymnastics. It certainly doesn't pay that well and most of the lower level coaches seem to be young and starting out. We don't have a ton of turnover at our gym, but the beloved compulsory coach left us about a month ago. Personally, I think...
Hi
Im a junior in HS, and looking into a division 3 gymnastics college. I was wondering what types of questions I should email the coach if Im interested? And would it be ok if I asked if they are going to be posting videos of meets for this year? Also how can I ask the coach what type of skill...
First and foremost: Sorry if this post is all over the place, my ranting tends to be very unorganized.
I recently started assisting coaching the very small team at the gym I used to compete at. The girls practice three days a week. The head coach, only coaches on Fridays because he has to fill...
Earlier this year, our assistant coach left because of health issues with her dad (completely understandable)The head coach has stayed consistent but we have had a coach named ******** who has been there for the past couple months and she really isn't coaching us. She:
- talks while we are...

My daughter doesn't know it yet, but her favorite coach is announcing he is leaving our gym. She will be heartbroken. He gave notice, and waited until after the competition season was over. There is talk that he is moving to another gym. Do we follow? Should we follow? My daughter is young & his...
I had posted in the "Good Luck" forum about my first meet with a new time, so decided I would write a quick, update report. It was just a small, local meet with one other local team that is of a similar skill level (no club teams in the area, so these kids have at most a few years of once/week...
So I currently do level 8 gymnastics - acrobatics, trampolining & tumbling. I train about 11-12 hours per week and i'm going to be in year 11 next year. This year, balancing school with training and friends was really hard. Sometimes i just want to quit because my mum is one of those pushy...
back from going to break, and keep trying an element that she knows the gymnast can do but is having some kind of block about it that day?
The example is jumping from the low bar to the high bar. Gymnast is a level 7 in Ontario, so has been doing this for years. For whatever reason the girl...
My DD wants to get her coaches a gift for Christmas, but I am not sure what is appropriate.
I guess we have gotten off easy as prior to moving up this year we had always gone in together with all the girls on a group gift. As the coaches were younger and just starting out we were able to find...
Just curious if this is worth discussing with anyone at our gym...one of the coaches spends most of their time (on one of the events) with one kid and one kid only. The other kids are left to do drills by themselves with very little coaching (if none) from the coach since they are working...
So, my only meet left of gthe season is States! Unfortunately, since our coach moved and she was replaced, my scores have gradually dropped. She does not pay attention to any of my routines, so I have no idea how to improve. I asked her to watch, but she made me go condition for interupting and...
I found this video utterly inspiring, and is a perfect demonstration of just how amazing gymnasts are.

At 0:06, she starts the roundoff. This is the point of no-return. One way or another, she’s going over that table...
