This came through to all the MN gymnastics clubs this week. I thought some here may know him and want to know about this. It is a very sad loss for us as a MN community...... ecspecially right after the loss of gymnast Gina Mori. It is with extreme sadness that we have to share that Dan...

Just found out that we are losing a great coach...

we found out today that one of our coaches (who is a great guy, we love him dearly...) is moving across the country. He leaves in about two weeks. He is our boys' team coach, our rec tumbling coach, rec boys coach and he assists with girls' team and runs our TOPs workouts and coached at open...

what is the student to coach ratio for level 7-9 at your gym

My dd's gym combines all of the optional levels (7-9) into one group. Currently there are 14 girls for 1 coach. The gym acts like this is a standard coaching ratio especially for summer. They said that people usuallly go on vacation or miss a day here and there so the number is always 14 to 1...

    Off Topic Pearson: Writing Coach

Based on previous posts, I have come to realize that many on this site are teachers. Does anyone have personal experience with Pearsons Writing Coach curriculum? I have been given the responsibility to find and purchase a new LA curriculum for our school and would like feedback from anyone who...

DD injured by coach a week from next comp...

DD (8) had her first competition of the season last weekend, she did quite well, coming 7th out of 27 in step 3. The second competition is next weekend. So she went to training this morning and during the warm-up the coach pushed her too hard in a hamstring stretch and she pulled an inner...

Coaches Not a Coach but a question for you on directionality

My daughter recently switched gyms, and while there were many reasons, one was the fact that we were informed by 2 different other gyms that she was doing her backwalkover using the wrong leg based on the direction of her cartwheel/roundoff. I have since spoken to another coach that agrees...

I don't want to see an xxxxxxxxx tear out of that eye! Coach says.

First of, mediator if the implication of that word above is prohibited, please make the necessary correction. Anyway, I had posted a thread about my DD's coach telling her she could win states. She is a L7, 9 yo. Well she fell off beam and scored an 8.9 which clearly put her out of the running...

An Update (RE: incorrectly titled thread as "loud" coach)

So, DD has now tried out at three different gyms! I think we've made a tentative decision... what do you all think? As a refresher DD has JUST turned 7 and is a 'L3' gymnast at a gym that does not actually compete L3 girls... so, she isn't working on any routines, just skills to get ready for...

How to help young DD cope with a "loud" coach?

So, DD was on preteam last year from May-December. In January, they bumped up to Level 3. In our gym, Level 3 is noncompetitive (the gym doesn't feel the skills progress well from L3 to L4). The purpose of the level in our gym is to train for Level 4. There are 7 girls in her group that range in...

Cheer Tumbling Coach - Here for excellent ideas! :)

Hello everyone! I coach tumbling at a cheerleading gym and I have always done competitive cheerleading. I coached recreational gymnastics for a little while and that taught me good coaching techniques. So I am here to learn more so I can teach my tumblers proper technique!

Gyms that have a T&T program, what are your coach to student ratios?

Another post on coach to student ratios sparked this question. I know USAG has a recomendation for gymnastics, does the same go for T&T? Our team is a mix of people who compete and those who do it only for recreation, we have students from 3 to 40 year olds and levels 2-9. Often there are 10...

Parents Exciting news from coach last night!

Well, dd had gymnastics last night and I went ahead and decided to sign her up for an extra day. Right now she only does one 45 minute class per week (on Fridays) and she bugs me all week long wanting to go to gymnastics! :p So her coach walks up while I am signing up with the office manager...
