I can imagine that some of us are feeling the pressure of competition season coming up. I am really anxious. I'm excited to get our leos and warm ups and get out on the competition floor, but I'm nervous that I won't get my skills in time.
I was previously Xcel Gold, and am working really hard...
I cannot for the life of me find out when New Jersey's (region 7) Xcel competition season begins. I tried looking on the USAG website and the website for my state/region, but to no avail. Does anyone know this information, or where I could find it? I want to know so I can plan when I should have...
TOPs testing starts for my DD in 2 weeks. She will likely do 3 state tests. Then we will have the dreaded wait to see if she will make it to National testing. If she does we will have the added bonus waiting time this year of waiting to see if she makes a team! Good thing I am already bald :)...
Tuesday will be my final session as chair of my University's trampoline club, and our final session before the summer. I want to do fun awards for everyone but I'm running out of ideas! can anyone add to the list I already have?
So far I've got:
Most improved tramp - for the girl who took 3...
The boys hit the gym last night after a great regional meet and it was quite the . . . interesting . . . practice. DS and his best buddy immediately ran over to the pommel horse and started doing L6 routines until they got kicked off and warned that they needed to be doing the usual warmup and...
It's over! Yay! We had State this weekend. DD (L3) did well placing 4th AA. 6th on VT, 4th on bars, 4th on beam and 5th on floor. Floor is usually her highest scoring event but it was a little rough this weekend because of how much her heels have been bugging her. :( To top it off it was their...
Hey guys, so I pulled my hip flexor the other night and I have had some severe knee pains. I can't take a break at the moment because competition season is starting in two weeks. Does anyone have any ideas to help them heal faster. I might go in to the doctor this week. Thanks!
hey guys so my gymnastics seasons is ending and i want to be able to condition so i can keep my skills on everything... bars, beam floor and vault ill go to an open gym every friday but sometimes i wont be able to..:( any ideas?
New user, but I have been reading through many threads.
My daughter is on her first year on competitive team new level one usag. We have had a frustrating first year. We are at a very small gym and lost our head coach (she was very good and a judge as well) before meet season even started...
I recently put together goody bags for our level 3 girls, after finishing their competition season (after State). I came here and found lots of random ideas to put in the goody bags, and thought I would post too, for any future parents looking for ideas.
Here’s what went in the bags:
1...
First meet of the season is done and out of the way. DD did a great job. L3 7-8 year olds she placed 1st on bars and 2nd on everything else. 1st AA. She is beyond thrilled and is more motivated than ever to get that kip that is "this" close so she can move up to L4 mid season.
I'm so thankful...
Parents are always asking what they can say or do. My DD liked this list in Inside Gymnastics this month (she printed it out and showed me). It has some simple words of wisdom for gymmies. It might be a little cheesy, but my kid liked it. I loved the 'T's'. Rolled my eyes at the 'C'. :)...
As some of you may know, I'm also the mom of a serious ballet student. In the ballet world, the dancer (once they reach a certain level and get in the student company) have to sign contracts stating they're not going to engage in risky behavior such as skiing etc. injuries can happen in lots of...
I always post about my daughter's goals at the beginning of the year. I asked my daughter about her goals for the season. She wanted her team to vote her strongest and bars queen at the year end banquet. She also said she wants to treat every meet like it's state, where she has always performed...
Before every meet, we give my daughter a massage. This morning I ask my daughter if she was ready for meet season. She responded in the affirmative and said, "I'm really excited for my massage Friday night!" Do any of you have specific pre-competition rituals or traditions?
P.S. Good luck to...
The girls had their first meet today; it was so much fun :-)
I would definitely say that the judges are scoring tougher on the new routines, as I saw in an earlier thread. The scores for our girls were lower than last year, overall, yet we placed higher as a team. Lots of 8s, where we saw more...
I heard that USAG is changing the uneven bars to ones with more "bounce". They are definitely harder to hit handstands. Anyway, I heard that change was THIS season. Someone else said it was next. Does anyone know for sure?
