I found out today that both of my DDs will be competing in the fall competition season. I have mixed feelings about it. Yay that their coaches feel that they are ready; but wow... I don't see how they are ready. My 7 yo will be doing USAG 2. She has nearly all of the skills; but does...
I had my first competition of the season yesterday and it went fairly well can't remember scores but I think it was 10.050 for vault (out of 12.4), 11.2 for beam and I don't know my start value but I'd say it was 13ish and 11.7 for floor with a start value of 13.70.
Vault was interesting -...
So other than the optional levels states are finished with and it's time to get cracking. As we all know strength and flexibility are the two most important ingredients in making an impressive gymnast
Does your team have an end of the season banquet with awards given to the gymnasts? If yes, how is it handled? Does the gym pay for the venue, catering and awards? Does the Booster Club pay? Are the attendees charged a fee per head? What type of awards are given? Are there activities/games or...
Countless routines and stressed coaches and gymnasts are only 2 of the reasons for it. It's driving me insane.
I just want it to be over! I had been hurt with different injuries for 2ish years so I only competed 3 meets last year and none the year before. Now there's so many meets and I'm so...
I have heard some gyms talk about needing an average season score in order to train the next level. What are coaches opinions on this. Does requiring a 35-36 season avg really help in the long run or is it a way to make sure teams and kids can place well.
My level 4 guys finished states last weekend, and they did pretty well. My older guy did better than ever, and he totally exceeded expectations from everyone, including his coach I think. Everyone goes on and on about his younger brother, but he scored better than him, and I was (secretly)...
Is anybody else (maybe prematurely) unashamedly relieved that the competitive season is almost over? It seems stress levels are high right now with parents, and coaches are just trying to keep it all together for the time being. State meet is in 2 weeks, and I'm already practicing my big sigh...
My daughter is having more fun than ever and is really starting to peak heading toward state. Her team is doing great and they have their toughest meet of the season coming up this weekend. I'm loving this season.
How goes it for the rest of you? Good luck with state on the horizon (for some of...
So, every year I can't wait until meet season starts...so I can see the girls perform their new routines and see how they are going to score, etc. I even like packing up and heading out on weekend trips at the BEGINNING of meet season.
Right now, we are over halfway through the season with...
Hi ladies.. mostly a lurker here, but occasional poster. Anyways, we are planning a move hopefully this summer, but could end up being early fall depending on when our house sells, to Denver. My DD is a 2nd year level 4 and just starting her season. We compete Jan-June (NY).
I know a lot of...
I love my gymnasts. I love to watch them during the summer workouts (when I can make it). I love to watch them goof around at home. I am so proud of them.
Why is it, then, that I am dreading meet season? I don't like that I feel negative about another child (why did they get that score, my...
I have to admit that I'm a little nervous for the start of spring season. My daughter has been having a blast working Level 5 (and even some Level 6) skills. With all of this up-training, though, it doesn't seem like the "I'm competing Level 4" mindset is there. I hope she and her team can get...
This one was a little rougher on me than it was on my gymmie. I definitely learned some lessons. We were competing against 12 other teams this time. DD was pretty nervous, but she didn't really show it too much. She started off on beam and did pretty well (8.925). Next was floor, which she...
DD10 first meet of the season was this weekend. It was the Idaho Judge's Cup. It was a critique meet so no placements per se but you are ranked 1-44 ( that's how many L6 there were) and you can qualify for state and the level sevens can qualify for the Idaho state team for the Nation Judge's...
Hi! Here in prep opt in CT we have a really late competition season. Our first meet is in January and we have states in late April. (Usually we have them around Mother's day but states are really early this year) does anyone else have this late of a season? Just wondering...
I'm starting to get really excited(and nervous) for competing this weekend!! I am nervous about floor because my routine isn't finished yet.. It'll have to be finished this week! I'm the only one in my division though so it's more like an exhibition than a competition haha. Oh well, wish me...
My daughter did her first full bar routine yesterday. We have a small in house meet next Saturday. All events don't seem there yet. But she seems ok. Having missed a full month of summer's gym practice, I think gives her the reason to be more forgiving if herself. She is a 1st year level 9...
