My DD has her level 6 state meet this weekend and she is very nervous. She keeps saying there is a lot of pressure on me because there are very few 8-9 yr olds in the state. We have competed with several of them before and she has gotten higher scores a few times higher than they got. She...
The day started with tears -- mine. It was dd1's last meet and could easily have dd2's. I told them each my favorite gym memory and completely lost it. I never cry, so both girls looked at me in stunned silence.
Dd1 was very happy with her meet. She's state vault champion. Funny, because...
This is my DD first year competing in state (Optionals). She had a good meet (1st on vault:)!). At the awards I was waiting for the girls to receive something for making state, since they did not receive anything at check in. Well, they did not receive anything. I remember when my daughter...
Last year at state we had some very hard judging. This year I expect it to be no different. I was wondering if there were any tidbits that we tend to look over in routines that we should pay special attention to so that those small deductions stop adding up. For example, pointed toes, smiles...
I took my daughter to the state meet this weekend. It was a disaster. We got up early and drove 4 hours to be there on time. All the other girls were on time as well. The only one who wasn't was the coach. Warm-up started at 11:30am, with introductions at noon and events beginning right...

We had the 1st of 3 Level 4 sessions this morning. Judges were all level 10 judges and they started off so hard on all the girls. Usually the 8 year old group is one of the top scoring groups for level 4 but today.... Not so much as the girls were judged extremely tough. We started on Floor...
:( Her coach was making the decision today and I just got the call. This has been a tough couple of months for her between crashes and injuries (hyper-extended her knee Friday night). I mean I knew...sorta. The tough part will be telling her. She still has to go to practice and workout what...
