Just curious, I already have my front walkover but not my back walkover. Many people seem to find back walkovers easier than front walkovers and I’m not too sure why if you can do both, which did you find easier and why? :)
Hi everyone!
I have a few questions about back walkovers. I can do the splits, a front walkover, and a backbend kickover. When I go into my back walkover, I can do the first part where I do a backbend on one foot but then I can't kick over from there immediately when my foot hits, but when I...
I'm a baton twirler for my high school (I perform as the feature twirler of my school's marching band during halftime shows at football games). Next year I hope to do basic tumbling/gymnastics on the turf during the performances. I can do really easy, basic tricks like cartwheels, front...
Hi!
For a front walkover, I keep putting my phone down in the middle/towards the end of when I am standing up. How do you keep your foot from touching the ground when you are coming up? I can do a front limber also.
For a back walkover, I can do a backbend kickover on the floor. However, how...
So a while back, when my sister was about 5 or so, (9 now), she took classes at our gym. However, she was really hyper (due to ADHD which was undiagnosed at the time), and quit. She switched to cheerleading. We've taught her a bhs which only took her a few months to get it on the couch and move...
I am new to CB and to the world of gymnastics. My 7 year old is on pre-team currently (level 1-2 equivalent) and we are not yet sure what the plan for her is going to be come June. We are still waiting to hear. She has done very well on pre-team, she is one of the stronger kids and does very...
After reading some horror stories here about back problems as a result of beam back walkovers, I wanted to get some input on dd. I'm not an expert but to me it seems like she doesn't have the best shoulder flexibility. I've seen from reading here that kids with less shoulder flexibility tend...
Wellllll, I think I have read everything about fears and vestibular issues and how to get over them. I think this is the hardest part in coaching gymnastics, trying to stay calm and act like it's not a big deal and it's going to get fixed and it's not the end of the world. It's just so hard to...
1. I go on releve (in dance) or on my tippy toes every time I stand up from a bridge. Is there any way to change this? i think it looks sloppy.
2. How do you kick over with straight legs? I can kick over with bent legs and I can only do it if i push off in this weird way.. I cannot tendu (in...
I have a question that is not too relevant for any JO Level, but I think it is a basic thing I was always interested in.
Everyone knows that the more split the legs, the more beautiful walkovers and kickovers look and the better is the technique. However, some kids seem just not built for...
DD has had an issue for the past few months where she tends to go crooked on the bwo on the high beam and fall off the side of the beam. And not just barely missing her feet, but more like going at a 45 degree angle or more off the beam. She had it fine for a few months before this started...
Okay, so I am having trouble with my back walkover on beam. I have it in the floor perfectly and I have it on a chubby beam and red squishy low beam really good. I need my back walkover on the HIGH beam for level 5(I am competing level 4 this fall) I don't have it on the real low beam yet:( I...
I have a front handspring step-out, a front handspring, and a back walkover. However, no matter how hard I try, I cannot get the hang of the front walkover. It feels like I'm not getting enough push from my wrists to actually get up. Is there any drills I can do at home to get it? Thanks for...
I saw something in another thread about left and right handedness in gym and I am right handed but I do front walkovers lunging forward with my left leg. To perform a one handed walkover , which hand should be the one to go down as my right arm is stronger but I am not sure if that's right ? Any...
Recently I have been trying to learn a front walkover on the beam! I can do them really well on the floor but when I get onto the beam I'm too scared because you can't see where you feet are going when you come over the top! I'm scared that my foot will slip off or miss the beam! How do I get...
hey guys,
I am sorry that this is my second post in a row but this question popped into my head this morning.
I am not competing in the JO Code (I want to switch, though).
I am Xcel but I have all level 7 skills. I have started gymnastics quite late and was never introduced into walkovers.
I...
Ok...without going into detail on why my level 6 gymnast cant do a back walkover or a back handspring on beam (this would be like writing a short novel)...is there anything else that can replace those? Can she do say a round off or front walkover? What if she did a skill to replace the back...
