We had our competition yesterday and the scoring was SO different! Nate only got a 9.5 on pommel after getting 10-11+ for the last two seasons in the same level. We had the Olympic judge on pommel and the scores were very low....except for a couple of super stars who got 10-11+...Yikes! Last...
Today is the first meet! New gym, new uniform, new routines.....D seems ready. I asked him if he was excited about competing or about seeing his friends at other gyms. He looked at me crazily and said "BOTH!" ROFL.
Good luck to any boys competing today!
Okay so DD's first meet was last night and I was a nervous wreck. She was really excited nervous for handstand on beam. I have to say I was impressed by her scores all 9s! She didn't forget any routines, and competed a vault by herself for the first time. Beam was successful here are her scores...
So I'm going to the Manhattan Classic in NY, and as you might know, it's a really big meet as well as my first travel meet! Usually, I just do a ponytail with a scrunchie because I have really long thick blonde hair (like in the picture) and otherwise it doesn't stay in. Any suggestions? I'd...
Ds has an incredibly fast metabolism. We discovered at his first real meet last weekend that we need a better plan for meet day food, especially if he is going to survive 6 hours between check-in and the end of the awards. He is not very picky but does have an issue with this that have a squishy...
the PT put 2 strips of KT tape on my dd's knee to help get the swelling down along with other instructions and exercises. she is saying her knee already feels better. i'm sure resting and not practicing tonight helped too! anyway, the tape is to stay on until her meet on saturday but i'm...
My little guy won't go to this, but the optional boys at our gym are going to this meet.
I'm so excited that it's turned into an international meet with kids coming from Japan, Australia, Britain and more.
If we had more money, I would totally try to go out and watch (we're in NY so it's far)...
Good luck to everyone heading there this weekend! Ds is in the Sunday morning session.
For those who've been before, it's there any particular spot that would be better to watch from with a squirmy 4 yo little sister?
My son is having wrist issues and has skids for mushroom and nude tiger paws for floor. He is insistent that the black skids are not acceptable for competition, they must be the nude color. Is there any truth to this?
DDs first meet of the season is this weekend. Does anyone else get super anxious for them until after the first meet? DD is doing her kip cast handstand for the first time into giant giant flyaway. She competed Clear Hips last year. I am really proud of her she has worked on the dang thing for...
We survived our first meet of the year, and it went well for us. 2nd AA by .2 is a good start, especially after leaving swings out on high bar. But the cherry on top of a good meet was the coach finding me to rave about my kids... wait for it.... focus and leadership with his younger...
Can anyone recommend a company that sells inexpensive leos for give aways at meets? We host an annual invational and tee shirt are getting boring.....LOL! Also think about bar shorts.
haha
dd is fine. she says she was only nervous about beam b/c her cartwheel BT dismount is crooked. i told her to not worry about it. no one is going to be upset if it's crooked and come states it won't be. and that it's just the first meet and she was working on level 5 stuff thru august to...
Well.... she hasn't competed since May 2015.(except one bar routine while she was hurt)...and we both got through our first meet.....we were fortunate to have a mock meet today.
I am not sure who was more nervous - her or me.
Her coach kept out a few skills that are just not competition ready...
Is there anyone here who doesn't watch meets? I am considering no longer watching meets because it is torture and I don't think it does my child any good. She does not like us to watch practice, but was very upset the one time we couldn't make it to a meet. I'm afraid that if I stop watching it...
Someone in my DDs' parent group tossed out for consideration a meet in vegas that has both t&t and artistic. We also attended a meet in SoCal once that had both. I looked around a little and found a meet in NYC that was totally comprehensive- it has JO, Xcel, usaigc, t&t, rhythmic, and more! I...
Hello everyone, I am new with this. I have a daughter that is in the DÉfi program (Québec province). she is not old enough to compete, other then défi, in our own system. She is REALLY dedicated and as a work ethic that is unbelievable. she is now 7. anyone knows if its possible to attend...
Has anyone only had 1 chance to qualify for States? Our gym is only doing 1 meet in our state. This means our level 4-7 have only one chance to qualify & that meet is in Dec.
