I had my third meet a while back, but didn't post about it. It was on an ice rink and was FREEZING. It wasn't so fun.

Bars: 8.7, 4th place (9.5 sv)
Beam: 8.9, 3rd place (fall)

Didn't do as well as I was...
the meet is at 8am. i assume warm up. so we need to be there at 7:45. it's an hour (maybe more) away. so leaving 6:30-6:45 depending on how far. i need 30 mins for my gymmie's hair.
what is the best thing to feed her? she eats a banana before every meet and she'll eat that in the car but...
The parents were so loud at this last meet! They were screaming right in my ear! They were acting like they were in a huge stadium, but it was a small venue..I can understand being enthusiastic for your gymmie, but have some consideration. We were on bleachers and this woman had her knee in my...
I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this before?... my gymnast & some of her teammates have higher skills on all events and the coach has decided to change their routines to their old, easier routines for the upcoming meets. Rumor has it it's because the coach wants them to get into states...
Just curious if this is normal for gymnastics. At a recent meet, the owner of the hosting gym was also a judge for the meet. This seems, in my humble opinion, to be a conflict of interest, but in gymnastics is this just common and normal?
All of the top 3 (sometimes 4) spots in all results were...
My son was talking with girls from the gym and they were showing him the medals they had recently one. He understands he has to wait to earn his own but had asked me if we could go watch a meet. My question is this.... are boys meets separate from girls? I have no problem taking him to one (at...
I wasn't sure how to title this, and hopefully I'm worrying about something that won't turn out to be an issue, but I'm curious about meets that have a giveaway leo that they have all the girls wear for the meet itself.
We are heading to one in a few weeks and I'm wondering, has anyone run into...
I have been given the task of finding meet sponsors for our state meet. Please give me some ideas on corporate sponsors (who to go after) and best approach. Would love to hear success stories. Thanks.
Just curious how the schedule is determined. I would think they'd take age of the children into account, no?
We are heading to a meet in March about 2 1/2 hours away and they scheduled the level 3s ages 9 and under for Friday evening at 6:15pm with awards to start at 8:45pm. They divided older...
I've always had utmost respect for the kids managing gym and high school but that has just been upped A LOT after seeing my DD get ready for her first travel meet while in high school. She goes to a public school (but rigorous and nationally ranked).
Good Grief! It has been a week. She's...
Has anyone been to the Cactus Cup? Would it be worthwhile to attend this meet as a spectator? Would it be worthwhile to attend any meet as a spectator? ;)
My family and I will be on vacation in AZ and I happen to notice the timing would work out very nicely to watch level 8-10 compete. My dd...
Yesterday we had a meet with our upper level Compulsories. The girls were having trouble during bar warm-ups...slipping off at the end of their kips and one even peeled off during her flyway. The bars were obviously really new so the chalk was not sticking to them at all. I told the girls to...
Im not sure what to do....
DD had a meet yesterday. When the schedule initially came out, we were all pretty surprised at how close the sessions were together (I'm talking 2.5 hours between open warm up for session 1 and open warm up for session 2). There were a lot of gyms in the first session...
D did his first level 9 meet last night. Most of the big gyms in the state were there (one was missing). He had a very solid meet, winning 1st on pbars (13.0), 2nd on pommel horse, vault, and high bar, and 2nd all around!!
he was kind of shocked.
As my title says, my dd tends to fall apart at meets. She practices well. She gets the highest scores from her team at in-house meets. She is extremely strong and practices with tight form, no slacking off. She is the oldest on her team as well.
But when she gets to real meets, she gets so...
I got the schedule for my girls next meet and they have a 7:30 report time at a meet an hour away. I have to get both their hair ready and sleeping with it done from the night before is not an option for us, so they will have to get up around 5:45. They are 13 and 15. My YDD gets car sick, so...
Dear Meet Director:
It might be a great venue, it might be a great city. I know you want to include your small boys team in your gyms event. However, if you don't get enough entries to support having a full slate of judges, please do all of us a favor and cancel the event. We will be sorry...
Hi All,
My DD is on Xcel (silver). Her floor routine is mostly dance and she is HORRIBLE at dance. I think the routine was choreographed by the coaches. (I thought in Xcel gymnasts could make up their own routine???? But I guess I was wrong).
She tried ballet once and hated it. Anyway, her...
