So I know lots of our boys have meets this weekend! D has his first meet. HE is just doing pommel. He is bummed.. He was hoping to do pbars too, but just isn't going to happen. So pommel it is. He compete Saturday.....
Can't wait for meet reports!
Before I begin, can I just say I would appreciate it if no meet names were mentioned, because I would like to keep this thread on a friendly basis.:)
As the meet season is now in full swing for many of us, I couldn't help remembering a few meets we went to last spring, where the equipment...
We don't get much snowy weather in our parts, however we are going north a few times for some competitions. Have you had any experience with very snowy weather and meet delay, or outright cancellations???
Obviously, some snow is no big deal, I'm wondering about the big messy weather.
Thanks!!!
With all this talk of meets & getting schedules out, what have been your favorite ones to attend?? We are doing a big travel meet next year(spring 2017), for the first time, and our gym will be open to some suggestions from parents! So, share your favorites & why!! Thanks! :)
We're very new to gymnastics, let alone competing, so any advice you might have on how to attend a meet on a budget will not be too obvious to post. The closest experiences I have had involved music competitions as a teenager, but those were always day trips and I wasn't the adult.
One of the...
So this year we have several travel meets and we are so excited to go. We are also trying to make all the needed plans including flights, and hotels. All of these meets are large meets with over 1000 participants and have been run for several years already.....We need to fly to all of them...
A jump off of a thread in the parent forum. Obviously some meets are notoriously high scoring and others are notoriously lower scoring. I live in a state where are scores, overall, tend to be extremely high (L3 state had 18 38s so several of those kids didn't even take first AA!!! 91 kids...
The "getting along with other parents" thread has got me wondering--in your area or at your gym, how much of the family typically attends the meets? Does it change as you go up the levels? On my daughter's L3 team, the trend seems to bring the entire family including both parents, siblings not...
Well I picked up DD tonight from practice. She said she tweaked her wrist after a teammate was horsing around trying to 'scare' her while she was working on on ROBHS-BT. It worked. She balked during her round off and landed strange on her wrist.
It was iced and she continued the practice. She...
Anyone doing the Little Boston meet in January? I think it's a new meet and wonder who will be there. They have three gyms competing at once with a college meet on Saturday so I'm guessing a fairly large event! Curious to know if it's fairly local or if people will be coming from other places...
So we found our tentative meet schedule for Ozone in TN. Of course, YDD is competing Friday afternoon and ODD is sometime on Sunday  So we were thinking of going to the collegiate meet on Saturday night. Do we need to buy tickets ahead of time, or is it an at the door kind of thing...
DD has a level 8 meet about 3.5 hours away on a Friday. Report time 11:30am. Can't decide whether to go morning of, which will allow her to sleep in her own bed (she hates hotel beds night before a meet) and get a practice in the night before, but she will have to get up very early and then...
Just a question for you. The first time I ever competed I was 12 years old and I was shocked to learn that makeup and glitter of any kind was prohibited at all meets for my gym. I was very upset because I saw so many girls with light makeup and glitter in there hair. Does your gym have the same...
Hey everyone!
This weekend will be my first meet of the 2015-2016 season. I'm so nervous! My meet is Saturday. Today was my last practice before the meet.... I had an excellent beam workout, an okay bar/floor/vault workout. I feel like I'm going to fall this weekend! Bad practices always make...
DD is level 3 and has very long (past her waist), fine hair. And I am hair-challenged.
She is adament that she does not want a bun, which is the only style I think might be appropriate for someone who has hair as long as hers. But I think a bun will probably also likely be a problem with the...
