In view of the fact that the hurdle is such an important part of tumbling I was hoping someone could clarify the key coaching points and common errors in the hurdle for tumbling (and any good drills). For example positions of the arms, legs etc.
Thanks in advance.

I am 26 years old and I am interested in competing power tumbling, trampoline and double mini. Is this an impossible dream? Is the sport mainly just for people begining at younger ages? I have noticed some older males but not many older females. I don't know what exact level I would be at but I...

I would like to take up tumbling i have been a artistic gymnast for about 9 years and have a talent for tumbling.. but i do have alot of questions & cant find much about tumbling online
My Questions are:
1. Can you just do power tumbling or do u have to do tramp as well?
2. How long is...
I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the floor tumbling requirements or "acro flight series" as worded on the MDL Divisions website. For Level A, it clearly states "front handspring, roundoff back handspring..." and for Level B it states "...2 elements acro flight series with one forward...
I do my bhs and back tuck on the trampoline and on a mat all the time but I just can't do it out on the floor! I feel like I will hit my head. I feel like such a wimp too, since I can throw fronts when my form is worse on those than in my back tumbling. I feel like everything will be...
Hi all,
My dd has been doing Artistic USAG for 4 years now, just finished L6 season. We just moved from FL to TX, where, after one month at her new gym, she decided to take a break from competitive gymnastics (I have posted about this a bunch in the parent forum, sorry if it's repetitive to you...
Someone mentioned to me today at a meet that I might be getting deducted for not fulfilling floor tumbling requirements at level nine, so I wanted to ask around here.
Due to a bum shoulder, my passes are currently:
Round off Full
Round off back tuck punch front
running front full
I know...
I have 2 kids in T/T, ds 15 and dd 13. My dd changed from artistic after 7 years and enjoys the change! My ds has done recreational artistic with nothing for boys gymnastics. This opportunity opened up to them after we changed gyms. They went to their first meet last month and had fun.
We...
front tumbling is so foreign to me. back in the early 90's front tumbling meant doing a ro bhs whatever - out of a front tuck. for me, front handsprings were so hard to get the correct angle to get any power out of.
i keep telling my self that gymnastics is repetition. so i have been...
So this week dd was allowed to tumble again. The first practice she went to she was balking even doing bhs, wasn't doing tucks let alone layouts. I was really nervous that she was going to have to start over. Well yesterday she went to a tumbling class and I was talking to another mom - out...
DD had a great night at practice tonight!!! For all of you that have been following her progress, she has been having trouble on one major skill-the RO BHS. Well, tonight, for the first time in 6 months she actually jumped out of her rebound into the BHS!!!! She still had a spot, but this is...
After a serious fall on the beam that left my dd injured, shaken and ready to quit, her coach offered her several choices to stay rather than just quit. She wanted rythmic gymnastics but he doesn't offer it right now, maybe next year with his wife as the coach. So he offered her to stay L7 and...
I have a group of level 3s (girls) who have just finished their competition season and are now working on level 4 skills.
we have been doing lots of drills and progressions for round-offs and have started on some for flips.
I would like to do some work on hurdles with them as well.
In...
I'm looking for some drills and conditioning myself and my adult class classmates can do to better our front tumbling. Most of us are working on FHS and/or front tucks and I though it would be nice if I could bring some things in we could do as a group, or two groups with FHS people in one and...
Shouldn't there be natural progressions of tumbling skills that are needed first before moving onto other tumbling skills? There just seems to be such a rush in cheer tumbling to "get certain skills" as opposed to in gymnastics.
For example, some of my dd's friends who were learning BHS's...
Does anyone know some drills to get higher on my saltos? I do get relatively high but, I want to know what I can do to get them higher.
Sorry that I posted it in the wrong forum.
My coach said last night that while my tumbling skills themselves are fine, my form is sloppy as of late *bent legs & separated legs mostly*. In other words, I wasn't tumbling at my full potential and strength (specifically on the ro-bhs-back tuck). However, my back tuck is pretty high despite...
Some may remember I pulled DD out of gymnastics because of the cost. If I signed her up at a local cheer gym for tumbling classes (not a cheer team) would that mess her up if she ends up going back to gymnastics in a year or two? I know cheer tumbling is different than gymnastics tumbling.
It's meee again, and i have a different problem, well have had it for a while now. Ive had to take time off due to my shin splints.. and they've been coming and going for some time. They're somewhat better now.. but still there. So im taking the next two weeks of complete healing and icing for...
