I was coaching a girl that has been working on back handsprings for what seems like forever. I tend to spot kids far longer than other coaches for safety reasons. This girl was finally doing the skill consistently on the down hill with just a touch spot. I usually spot just as much as the kid...
I've started working on backhandsprings on beam, and I'd like some tips...
I'm just wondering if anyone has any "tricks" that will make it easier
thanks
We've just started doing back handsprings on beam. We've done drills (Back handsprings up to panel mats and others) and now we've started trying them with mats stacked up so it's not quite even with the beam, but high enough so you won't crash if your hands don't land on the beam.
Well my back...
Floor is definitely our weakest event. I've been working really hard to try to get my girls to snap down out of their round offs and to stretch their back handsprings out, but they just don't get it. Help!!?

I'm stuck on this one.
I've got an athlete who has a fantastic standing backhandspring, and a workable roundoff, and a good snapdown.
She is absolutely. terrified. to do a snapdown backhandspring or a roundoff backhandspring. Her exact words are "I feel like I am going to die". She had a...
Since the beginning of last summer i have been working BHS stepout on beam. I have made absolutely no progress since then. If a coach is spotting me, i get my hands on, my bhs is fine. If a coach isn't spotting me ( not even spotting me, literally just standing there for support with there...
I know this is quite often asked but I do circus as an extra activity and its sort of learn from each other. There is one guy who is learning a back handspring and the way I see it is his hands land practically where his feet take off which I think is to do with the fact that when he leans back...
Ah, yes, I always have some big issue on my back handspring.
-On the landing of my back handspring, my hands are way behind me and my head, chest, and belly land way in front, often causing me to hit my head on the landing.
-I always try to jump as powerfully as I can and push my arms way back...
7yo dd (level 2) really wants to get her back handspring (some of her friends who do acro have theirs). Her gym does not offer the clinics (she is currently level 2), but they do uptraining. They work on them at the gym at most 15 minutes a week from what I can see. She is close-- she did one...

I've been in gymnastics for give years and I STILL don't have my back handsprings on floor. I feel like I'll never get them and I'm super close but I can't take the last step without help and I don't think this coach will spot me with them tomorrow at open gym because she thinks I need to learn...
Everytime one of my gymnasts does her round off back handspring her shoulders close on her back handspring, either landing on her face or her elbows. Her round off is nice and she can complete the skill but I cannot figure out why her shoulders close. HELP!
I am a Level 9 gymnast, and my series on beam is a Bhs Bhs. You'd think I would be able to do a good Bhs on beam by now, but unfortunately, I have lots of trouble with them. I learned them incorrectly, and I've never really been able to fix the problems thats caused. I posted a few videos of...

Ok before posting this I want to mention that my DD is not a typical 4 year old. She is very strong and very flexible. She is 90% for her hight. So she looks older and very muscular. Not typical 4 year old baby build at all. So she has been "practicing" with spot her back handspring for quite...
