So I have had my standing back handspring for a while now and it's pretty good but I can't seem to connect my round off or anything to it. I have a good round off with a high rebound too, but whenever I try to go for my robhs, I always have to pause for 1+ seconds after my round off to go into...
I am just frustrated to the point of tears about this. I've had my back handspring on my floor since I was about 9-10 years old(I'm 17 now, so that's 7-8 years). I used to be absolutely fearless about them, I could do them anywhere, several at a time, I would do them in the backyard, outside at...
Does anyone have a video of a great back walkover back handspring connection on beam? (level 7) And a video of a close connection but no credit, I am struggling trying to decide whether or not one of my gymnasts is connecting, she did not get credit last meet, but I was not there so I didn't...
I have my standing back handspring, but I desperately need help with my roundoff back handspring, because I need it to move to Level 4. I only need a slight spot, but I can't seem to connect it.
I have hurt my left wrist at least 3 times doing back handsprings on low beam by myself. My left hand is behind my right hand when I grab the beam, and will slip too far to the right and twist. It's bothering me because this time when it happened, I couldn't do back handsprings on beam for a...
I am a level 6 gymnast, and I have been doing my R/O BHS BT's for 2+ years consistently. Earlier this year I was scared to go for it (even with a spot) for one day, but after going to camp and getting a break from gymnastics for a few weeks i could do it again fine. One day I was practicing...
You might remember that I posted a few months ago about a girl I'm doing private lessons with. She is a cheerleader and wants to get her roundoff backhandspring. We fixed her roundoff which was crooked, we got her jumping and now she does a beautiful roundoff backhandspring...when I spot her...
DD is having trouble getting both hands on the beam for her BHS. Very often she gets both of her feet, but usually only one hand. One coach has said that when she sets she is not square on the beam and that she is turning one hip. Yet, she has a very nice BWO on beam which she never misses...
This is simply a matter of curiosity for me. I don't want to ask Kipper's coaches b/c I don't want them to think I am meddling or doubting them. But, I really want to know. At what point do you focus on teaching a gymnast to keep their knees together during BHS series? Kipper has pretty BHS...
My older DD had her BHS. Then suddenly, she had a not so pretty BHS. I figured it was because of a big growth spurt (about 3-4 inches in maybe 4 -5 months based on how short all of her pants are all of a sudden - end of the school year I was having to roll them up, now they are way too...
I tend to squat way too low in my bhs. I've been trying to correct it for a while but when I go for it I still am bending too low. I think it may be a fear issue because I feel like I'm closer to the ground when I bend low. Also my coach won't spot me, she just tells me to just go for it and...
Hello! I've been working on my back handspring for like two years and I still can't do it by myself. Since I am tall and not light like the little girls, I absolutely need the help of one particular coach that is able to lift me. So I really want to know exercises that I can do by myself and...
I used to have my bhs perfectly fine on high beam, but then i didn't do any for about a month because of a wrist injury, and now i can't get my hands in the right position. Like on the low beam, my left hand goes on the beam where it's supposed to go, but my right hand will land on the box next...
Which tends to be the more common series for level 6 or 7, the back walkover/back walkover with BHS separate or the back walkover/back handspring series with no extra bhs? DD already has the BWO/BWO and separate BHS and is connecting the BWO/BSH on the floor beam. Just wondering when each...
I've been working on my backhandspring on beam, and I want to get it on the high beam by the end of the summer. I have been using panel mats on the side of a low beam and I can get my hands on almost every time, but I have trouble getting my feet on (and staying on). We practice much less in the...
My problem is whenever i try to do a roundoff backhandspring I do a roundoff, take two jumps and do a backhandspring for some reason I can't only take one jump. Anyone have any tips?? And when i'm on the tumbletrack i can never do a straight roundoff. Any tips for that?
Can you do say a BWO/BHS series and then a RO/BT dismount in a level 6 or 7 beam routine? Then for the jumps a split leap split/ jump combo or is that too many "b" elements? All in the same routine. Just wondering not saying that is the plan or anything DD was just asking.
Hi coaches,
I have a new Excel Bronze dd (been in gymnastics 4.5 months), and I'm new to the sport as a parent who never did gymnastics (sadly - would have loved to!).
Understandably, all the girls are excited to learn the bhs as one of the next skills. I've noticed at our gym that the rec...
I do private lessons with a girl who wants to learn a back handspring. I have her doing back limbers and back handsprings over a barrels and those are looking great. She also does jump body slams and those look good also. When I spot her in a resi pit, she brings her legs up way before she...
