How long did it take you to get a good back handspring?

How long did it take you to get a good back handspring once you did it alone for the first time? ALSO How long did it take you to get really comfortable with them+did you lose it at all after you got it for the first time? Just wondering, beacuse I just got mine. :)

    Piked back handspring?

I just got my back handspring on a mat today, (yay!) except I am piking. My coach told me I was, though I don't know how badly. I don't get stuck in a handstand or anything so it can't be that bad, right? Anyway, my questions are... Will I gradually stop piking as I do more back handsprings...

    Bhs bhs series help.

I've been having trouble with my bhs bhs series on beam. I do it perfect on floor, and perfect on beam with two panel mats for the second bhs. But whenever I try to progress past that, like taking the mats away. I totally freak out. The mental game if gymnastics is really tough for me...

    Back Handspring Problems!

Hello, I am new here, and I wanted to ask a question concerning my back handspring. I'm 13 (14 on Tuesday) years old and I just began level four gymnastics. Except...I don't have my back handspring! I've been trying to get this skill for five months now, but with very little practice. See, I go...

    Women Crooked BHS?

I have had my standing BHS for about 2 years now. It just started to get crooked. My coach told me that in the middle of the BHS, my hips sort of turn, which is causing me to land towards the side. The beginning is fine though. Can somebody please give me tips/ drills for home? Thanks <3:):)

Women How important are straight/closed legs in a ro /bhs/+ series?

I was watching dd's slow motion video of her first L7 competition. And I noticed that she is still opening/bending her legs during her bhs series! Its not quite as obvious in real time, though I know the judges picked up on it because of her scoring. She does not do this when she is doing a...

Women I Need Help On Flicks (Back Handsprings)!!!!

Basically, I don't have the power in my arms to push from the handstand back to my feet. My hands hit the mat and then my feet snap over but before I can land, my arms crumple and I land on my knees. I really need it for a tumbling series and I've been working on it for ages!!!!!! Its also...

    Women Help with backhandspring

My 7 year old daughter will compete this winter for the first time as a level 4. She has been training for about 9 months. She has had her round off backhandspring for many months, but is still bending her legs a bit on the bankhandspring. Her coach insists on no practice (no robhs) outside...

    T&T BHS/Open Gym Question?

Hi, I'm a gymnast who is looking to get back into the sport for my high school team but my only problem is we have to get a ROBHS (round off back handspring). Problem is I have completely lost my ability to do that after four years of not being in the sport. I am going to an open gym tonight...

    Parents Fear of BHS

So, my 7yo DD has been doing BHS on the tramp and tumble track for months. She can do 5 or 6 in a row with NO problems. A few months ago she started doing BHS on floor as well. Now, all of a sudden, it's gone. She is too nervous to do it. To my knowledge nothing has caused this. No falls...

Women Level 5 back handspring pass

My round off two back handsprings always seems to be better out of a power hurdle than from a run. Are you allowed to compete the routine with a power hurdle? Will they take any deductions?

Parents DD got ro bhs and front hip circle in same week

Is there something magic about turning 6? All of a sudden she is learning skill after skill after being pretty stagnant for about 6 months. She's gone from not even being able to do even a bad bhs on trampoline to doing a really good looking ro bhs on the regular floor in a month. The progress...

    Women backhandspring

Hi Please could somebody explain what shape we should be aiming for during the second flight of the BHS ie snapping down from hands back onto feet.I have only done a basic coaching course and I think they said to tell gymnasts to think of chest snapping up as much as legs snapping down and keep...

    Women Arms in bhs

DD is currently training level 4 and working on ROBHS. She is doing pretty well and can get it occasionally without a spot. But most of the time it seems her arms "buckle" when they hit the floor, so her head touches the mat and she ends up with a back headspring. She has managed to overcome...

Women Round off - flick (round off bhs)

Hi My daughter is struggling with her round off flick. I think the flick is a BHS in the US She has a very nice round off and she had a decent standing flick back in spring. once competition season was over they spent pretty much the whole summer on conditioning and basics and starting to look...

    Women learning a back handspring

My dd is a level 4 and our gym also does level 3. DD competed level 3 last year. I was curious to know how different gyms handle learning the back handspring and what is most common. Our gym seems to wait to teach the back handspring once the girls are already on level 4. They do work on them a...

Women back handspring back layout step out

Hi. My daughter is having a little trouble doing her bhs back layout step out on beam. She always has trouble keeping squared on the beam. At level 8 she had so much trouble doing bhs, bhs and sticking it. She always came out of it crooked and fell off beam. So her coach modified her beam and...
