My understanding is that there is no deduction for a coach on the floor unless a spot occurs. Is this correct?
I have an athlete that likes someone "close" for her tumbling. Thanks!
So, our competition season starts in about 6 weeks. Is it appropriate to get the coaches a "thank you" gift for working so hard with our girls? Maybe at the end of the season? I'm not sure what the protocol would be, or any clue what to get for them. Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!
Did anyone watch the Olympic inspire documentary on BBC earlier today? It featured Huntingdon gym club. I thought something LS's coach said was very interesting. He said (and I'm paraphrasing): "I didn't see any talent at first, it wasn't until he was around 13 that I thought he could achieve...
Hello, everyone!
i need some advices today.
My DD is 10years old and will compete level 7.
And i am coaching pre team at the gym.
My DD is not happy with her head coach/ owener.
She said her coach is yelling her when she has fear. And i know that because I was there.
Someone does something...
Is there any way to check a coach's international references/resume? For example, if a coach had claimed to work with a national team in another country? And most of the coach's references are in said country....
Something I've been wondering about: where is the line between being friendly with a coach, and being too friendly?
Here's the scenario.
Yesterday we were leaving a training venue. Head coach walks past the back of our car as I was packing things into it, and says bye to my daughter (called...
My daugther's coach died in a car accident on Thursday. We just found out last night. My dauther is devastated. She was up most of the night crying and saying she doesn't know what to do with her life. She loves him - we love him!! I don't have to tell this group how strong/important that...
Just curious what your gymnast to coach ratio is in your DD groups? At what point is it to many? I'm especially curious with 9/10 and training elite. Thoughts???
I don't know her too well but she's very inspiring and we all look up to her a lot. I would like to get her something and like a card in the next hour before I have to go to practice. Ideas?
A case in Florida, where a gym coach got 20 years for molesting kids.....sick!
i was trying to explain to my kids that adults usually don't hang around places where there are kids unless they have a reason. My child said that since what the gymnasts do is so cool, he could see why someone would...
We recently (in March) had a shake up at our gym where the head coach/co-owner left. She took about half the team gymnasts with her and most of the team coaches. After a couple months of renting time at other gyms for her team to practice in, she recently opened her own facility about 15 minutes...
Our gym lost our beam coach. The head coach is male. So, he does not coach beam. Currently, the rec coaches, who have no gymnastics training or are cheerleaders, are overseeing the beam practices. With the shortage of coaches, we don't know when we will get a new coach. Anyone had to do...
My DD started intermediate rec yesterday and I love love love her new coach. So I told her after class that I really liked her teaching style and thought she was a great fit for my daughter. Then I thanked her for working so hard with these kids (she really does, she's awesome). The weird part...
Before we got the new vaulting table, gymnasts used a pommel type vault (as everyone knows). Why did the women use the horse turned 90 degrees compared to the men?

I'm only 13 right now, almost 14. But I want to major in business management and move to Boulder, CO or Colorado Springs and open up a gymnastics or tumbling gym. Is it possible or should I aim for a different career? I set my highschool classes for business marketing and management. I heard...
DS had a sweet young coach for level 4. She made him feel special and taught him how to sit still and pay attention. He scored well but the coaching was adequate, at best, when it came to the actual skills.
Now he is level 5 and has an amazing coach. He is the perfect balance of strict and...
OK ... Might as well ask now ...
How many of us are coaches. Are gymnasts. Are parents? No matter whether MAG, WAG, TnT, etc. And I realize some are both parent and coach. Maybe even gymnast, too!
It would be great if a moderator can add a poll to this post!!
ps And...
My dd just finished her second year as a level 5. She finished very strong. She has been uptraining for several months and has all of her next level skilld except bwo on beam. The problem is she really struggles with fear on beam. Fear of the cw on beam was what kept her in level 5 for two...
