My one hour boys (ages 5-10) HATE going on the bars, I try to make it fun by doing monkey hangs and silly little things. I am running out of ideas and fast since this is my first year coaching, any ideas to keep these boys engaged?!
I need some tips for bars. For my Level 5 i need my two feet on/squat on and tap-around/baby giant.
With my two feet on, i cast out too much and get my knee's up to my chest but cant get my feet on.
My tap-around i can get good tap swings and then go to tap around, but I can't get myself over...
I know you can of course do a flyaway. Out of pure curiosity I thought I had seen a second option for a level 6 bars dismount?
Does anyone know what this is?
I just started gymnastics again after two years and in that time I had a growth spurt. I am now 5,7 and when I swing on the high bar my toes touch the ground. The bars can't go any higher. Does anyone have suggestions on how to swing without my feet touching the ground??
My dd will compete level 7 for the first time in about six weeks. Her giant on bars looks great - straight arms/legs, good body position and a nice tap. However, she does miss it once out of about seven times. Her coach tells her that she needs to get it more consistently. Yesterday at...
Would this routine meet full start value requirements for JO level 8?
kip handstand
toe shoot to high bar
kip cast back hip circle
cast to handstand
giant to flyaway half.
Thanks for any input!
So DD is finally coming along with her bars. Yay! She is now scoring mid to upper 8's (from the low 7's she was quoted at prior to competition season.) She told me after her meet this weekend that her coach said that for each element where her feet are not together it is a .2 deduction. So...
My 11 year old got her overshoot today !! It's a work in progress but I'm soooo proud of her !! She's getting closer n closer to being ready for level 9 !!
I have a kid that is a level 8 ... but struggles on bars with a "Cast" she can't cast to handstand to save her life. She's been on straddle cast since May and is still inconsistent. I've spotted, set up a zillion drills, everything. She definitely can't do a straight body cast. She can do a...
What on earth is a peach jam, done on uneven bars?
The things my daughter comes home telling us she's been learning, sometimes I just wonder if the coaches make up ridiculous names specifically to bamboozle us.
Any videos that people can point me to? I looked in MostepanovaFan's guide to...
I have a gymnast that struggles mightily with bars. She's more solid than my other athletes who have a leaner body type and just struggles so much with bar conditioning. Even her pullover is very labored. We do chin ups and pull ups but even then she can't pull herself all the way up. Is...
Is there anyway to do the new level 6 bars without a free-hip to glide on low bar.
Bars is a weak event for me, especially low bar as I tend to hit my feet.
I plan on doing an uprise for my 'B'
I was talking with my coach and she said you have to have two 'air circling moves' so free hip or...
Somehow my current group of girls (specifically 4 girls competing level 4 after doing 5 last year) are really slow in this area. They've all had kips for over a year. Cast handstands are getting better due to adding in new drills. But overall I don't see a whole lot of improvement. 3 of the...
Looking for ways to accomplish this for a meet this winter. I have heard of water weights but cannot find any info on them or how much weight needs to be to hold the corners down.
My 7 year old DD is trying to learn her mill circle. Her legs are a mess, she has taken the skin off in several spots. Her gym doesn't allow the kids to wear shorts for practice. I suggested that she maybe put some chalk on her legs; but I really don't know what I'm talking about since I have...
