After they finish the mill circle, they need to do the leg cut back, right?
DD had a meet this morning, and I didn't even notice it at the meet, but when I was watching the video after, I saw that instead of a legcut, she moved her hand over the leg, and then swang the leg over the bar (like...
Hi all,
I am looking for something like a bar specific summer camp. DD's bars are (IMO) 1 to 2 levels below her other skills. Not because she is having problems with what she's being taught, it just seems that the focus isn't on bars. The gap seems to be growing instead of decreasing.
Are...
My 11 year old is a new level 9 , coming back from an injury . Bars is always her weakest event and her coach is getting frustrated with her . She is very inconsistent with the pirouette on the high bar. She struggled with that skill in level 8 as well . Any tips on making it better would be...
DS's coach has told his L5 boys that he aspires to teach them giants on parallel bars during spring/summer uptraining. (He also told some parents that he doesn't want to move them up to L6 without giants on high bar.) I've seen the optionals working on this skill and it looks . . . hard. Is it...
Hello,
I know, this board won't give me medical advice. But I have been to 2 specialist and they don't know an answer. Maybe someone has experiences here!
I usually do floor and very little bar work.
When I do handstands, push-ups or something, it's fine. But when I work on bars my arms...
I can do about 15 good form hanging leg raises from a high bar. Absolutely no swinging, straight legs, all the way up. But on stall bars, I can only manage about 4 to 5! Why is that? And how can I train these without stall bars? I have got a pull up bar at home, but that's it.
I am really curious!
Just curious. My DD (new 5) is quite strong. She can cast to HS, Kip cast HS, (both either over the bar (with straight arms) or hold in HS on the bar), press HS etc. BUT bars has never come easily for her. Last season she did "okay" scoring low 9's. Technique (body position) is good...
We had a meet this weekend where are bar scores were a bit lower than normal and especially so for one of our gymnasts. Our coach made an inquiry and was told that the cast before a clear hip had to get to handstand or it was a 0.4 deduction. Our coach said she asked the judges when that was...
I recently competed last week and my coaches decided to change my bar routine a bit. I was wondering if this is enough for xcel gold because it is really short. So it's pullover (hopefully a kip I am so close I think I will be able to get it by the 25th -my next meet), back hip circle, squat on...
Wondering if anyone has level 6's who competed this season and can share the details of their bar routines.
Would love to know:
1. Description of the skills that made up the routine
2. The start value and why?
3. What the routine scored?
Thanks in advance!
I have my hiccup but not the kip the common problem. I have gotten a kip about 2,3 times but can not get it consistent. I also do a clear hip to handstand before it and would like to try steep down after would this give me more power? Any drills suggestions?
I am the assistant coach at a high school in Indiana. We had been having a problem with the janitors at out school cleaning the bars every night after practice.... There would be absolutely nothing on them when we would go to practice the next day. Ever since this happened, the bars will not...
Are gymnasts required to stop after the glide and then chin up, hold, pullover?
I don't read the text that way but kids that do it that way seem to score better than those that glide, feet hit the floor, then immediately pullover.
I know it's probably normal but sometimes when I let the bar hit my stomach area more it eases the pain instead of hitting the bones of my hips. They are always blue and purple and sting.
Sometimes I just go straight down. Last practice I started getting a pretty good rainbow which was motivating because before then I couldn't do it. I'm 5ft tall and one of the tallest in level 1. I'm 14 also which means I'm old. Any tips?
DD has had two L6 meets this year and has been struggling on bars, which is usually her best event.
It seems like every time a question about bars at this new level comes up, there are differing opinions on what the cast requirements are.
Are they the same as old L6 (above horizontal) or are...
I coach high school gymnastics where it is very common for girls to join who have little/no gymnastics experience. I think one of the biggest challenges is bars. During practices I am mainly in charge of the JV group in which I have one girl who has a "solid" routine (pullover, back hip x2...
Ok, so we were at a meet yesterday. First Session was L3. The bars looked fine... of course the girls are only on the low bar.
Second session - L4. I noticed that the bars looked unlevel. I also noticed that they were REALLY, REALLY chalky looking. I was directly in front of the bars but there...
