Lately, the question of when and where and how it is appropriate to protest social issues has come up in many sports, most notably (but not only) the NFL. I expect it is just a matter of time before this question must be addressed in the gymnastics world, so while this is a politically charged...
Okay, so I have heard a few times of kids competing JO levels at non-sanctioned meets. How would that even work? How would you get judges? Why would a gym choose to attend a non-sanctioned meet.
I don't know if that happens in my area, as all the meets I know of are listed on our states USAG...
So recently I asked my DD if she was excited about her first meet (Coming up in December) this is her first year not just doing team but doing gymnastics in general. If you haven't seen my thread about how her coach is making her stop doing her harder skills although he said form had nothing to...
The coaches not attending awards thread got me interested in how much a gym can make hosting a meet. I have been told that the meet DD gym hosts can make enough money that 3 or 4 months of Team Fees are waived. I researched on USAG Region 7 website and the MD USAG web site. I learned a few...
As usual, I had planned to write a short and concise post and ended up writing a book :D. Sorry in advance.
I just received some team information :) (How cool is that?! Team! & Information!) Before they can compete, each of the new team girls (including my dd) has to pass skills tests in each...
My 6-year-old has her very first meet tomorrow! It feels like it's been forever working up to this, since she started rec Kinder class at 4. So crazy to compare, since my 5-year-old DD starts her second season of t-ball, and after 2 weeks of practice they will already be playing games! With how...
Hello! Our gym hosts 2-3 meets every year and our first hosted meet is coming up in early October and we are looking for ideas for vendor tables. We recently had to switch locations for where we host our meets, at our previous location we were able to make and sell food/snacks/bevs to sell and...

So last season it was end of march/first week of April, this year it isn't until the first weekend in May! Meaning they have like a month and a half from their last qualifying meet until state. Seems weird doesn't it? The rest of the levels have their state meets all in March....anyone know why...
I saw this post on ChalkWarrior and am totally fascinated by the story of Laney Madsen. I don't know much about cheer, and can understand how a great cheerleader could go straight to being great on floor, but how would you get L10 bar, beam and vault skills in just one year? Pretty incredible...
Just wondering if anyone (or their kids) has done this meet before? DD is doing it for the first time next weekend.
It's completely just for fun, and it's on the beach on Lake Michigan....
For girls it's a team of 3 gymnasts each, and it's by age group, not by level, so they can do whatever...
Hi,
We have a gymnast who will be 20 on May 31, 2018. He cannot compete USAG anymore, but won't be going to a 4 year college until the 2018-19 school year(hopefully). He has graduated from high school.
What meets can he compete, i.e.....what meets have an "elite" or "open" division...
DD was so excited, the head coach of Oklahoma University came to our gym to watch the girls practice today. Got to have her picture taken with her after practice. DD is wearing her new Oklahoma University leo too!
What would you recommend taking to states? I just found out i have states tomorrow (got in as an alternate) and i really need a quick list of everything i Will need. Thanks in advance[emoji854]
I am super proud of my fellow adult gymnasts in my class. This weekend they are competing Xcel Platinum. All these ladies are 30+ years old (we do not need to get specific when it comes to ages :p) and two of them haven’t completed in over 2 decades! We only practice once a week, I’m impressed...
Hi,
Wondering if any parents of optionals can weigh in on benefits of a scheduled break every year after meet season is over in terms of injury prevention. I know the kids want to uptrain but many other sports with high hours do seem to suggest a break at some point in an otherwise year round...
We're testing 'international' waters in a few weeks, attending our first US meet. Any suggestions on what to expect, aside from exchange rate sticker shock?
