I have a question for the judges (coaches too, if you can help)
about a month ago, at one of my dd's level 4 meets, all our girls scored low across the board on their vaults...lower than they normally do. After the meet, one of our coaches approached the vault judges and asked them for some...
How would you score give these vaults. I will tell you her score later on. Thanks so much. She is finally getting over the vault!! So that is a victory in itself! I am sure through the season it will improve much more. Just curious what everyone else thinks! Also welcome any ideas for her...
The girls compete in Alabama this weekend. All routines look between decent and great. The only inconsistant one is vault. Some days decent others really rough Please send some fairies our way to make vault click this week.
Thanks
:)
Last weekend was my dd's first meet at level 5. She started down the runway (I'm sure that's not the "real" word for it), stopped, and went back and did it again. I thought that the false start would count as one of her two tries, but it didn't. So then, I assume then there's some sort of a...
I am going to pose a series of questions about judgements on Level 4 vault, picking the Code of Points apart. I'm a coach, and if you've followed any of my posts the last few years I'm rather judgemental myself at the lack of consistency in our state's judges. Rather than ranting... I'm...
Could somebody explain to me what the gymnast is going for in a handstand vault? Maybe point me to a You Tube video of someone doing is beautifully and then tell me why? I can't for the life of me tell a difference between a good vault and a bad one. The other events... sure, they kind of make...

Watch the slow-mo replay. As she blocks off the table, she does a clearly visible 1/4 turn to the left -- but then switches directions and performs the front 3/2 to the right.
Is there something here that I'm missing?
I have a Level 9 gymnast who has GREAT tuck/pike tsuks and is wanting to learn a layout. She is training them to pit but isn't quite making the layout body position yet. She is opening more than she would in her pike but isn't quite there...any suggestions or drills? Thanks!
One of DD's teachers at school found out that she's a gymnast. The teacher has asked her to consider doing track & field in the spring(she's in 10th grade) in hopes of having her try Pole Vaulting. DD has never Pole Vaulted before in her life, but she is curious to learn more about it. I was...
I think it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen!:p
Younger DD (6 yo) has been struggling BAD with getting all the way up to the top of the mat stack with the L4 vault. Just in the last week or so has she even been able to even run and jump up there and do a forward roll! (that...
First of all, this is not a medical question. I'm having vision therapy to fix this, so I don't need medical advice. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this and how it turned out for them.
About a year ago I was diagnosed with amblyopia in my right eye, which causes poor depth...
I'm looking for a video on the internet that, if my memory serves me right and often it doesn't, is used by either Britain, Ireland or Austalia as a developmental compulsory vault before what would be the equivalent of USAG Level 8/9 vaulting, but after USAG Level 6. I found this video earlier...
How often do you have your gymnasts train vault? My daughter is trying to learn a level 8 vault. Floor, beam and bars seem to be worked on almost every practice, but they seem to often not do vault. It seems to me the way to learn a new skill is to work on it often, at least some at every...
Everytime my 9 year old practices her level 6 vault, she comes home complaining about knee pain on the left leg. I wonder what she is doing wrong. None of her coaches tell her she is doing something wrong. In addition, the gym she belongs in has no pits and she lands on what her coach has...
Hi All,
My DD is L7, and all but one girl in her group are training L8. Hence, during vault, she has not been doing many front hand springs, but the tsuks and the one where you do a RO first. (Is that a Yurchenko???)
Anyway, she started complaining of wrist pain on Thursday after workout...
Hello all, i was just wondering about the level 5 vault. How much deduction is it for a pike and no block? Also how do u get rid of the pike? I know that heal drive can help, but every time the vault is still pike?? Basically how to get rid of pike and add more block?? Thanks.
I have a question regarding the thought process behind what vaults coaches teach and why.
My DD is training L9. She did 2 years of L8. 1st year did a 1/2 twist on 1/2 twist off vault. Last year vault finally 'clicked' she did a Tuck Tsuk for most of the year and ended doing a Pike at state...
Okay, so I used to be really good at the Level 4 vault. Whenever I did it, I could easily do a fronthanspring landing on the other side of the mat. When I moved onto the FHS vault over the table, I did it really well on the lowest setting and even competed it. Then, we moved onto the next...
I have a lot of trouble with doing arm circles before vaulting, it messes me up. I'm kinda starting to get it down, but I do so much better without them. I noticed Yelena Produnova doesn't do an arm circle and she manages to get a double front around. Do they really help?
