My daughter recently moved up to level 7. She has been having trouble with her backhandspring on beam. She consistantly gets her hands and front foot on the beam, but her back foot goes off to the side on just about every one. How does she get her back foot on the beam?
I'm scared to do my back handspring on the beam... When I think to myself "Why even bother staying in gymnastics if im not going to try new things?" It helps but when I get on that beam.. I just totally freak out. So basically, I'm not scared to do my BHS on beam at all, until I get on the...

Okayy so I've been working bwo bhs on beam for a while now.. They never improved and I would always get dissapointed and yeah long story.. But last week my coach told me to try handstand bhs instead of working bwo bhs that day. At first I was scared of it just like my bwo bhs (YES I WAS ON LOW...

Hey, I was at gymnastics yesterday and I can do a round off back handspring again! Because I broke my arm doing a standing back handspring about 4 months ago and I couldn't do it or anything else for another 3 months and I just got back into gymnastics about a month ago and I have all of my...
My dd would like to know if anyone has a video or can give us a link to a video of someone doing a back handspring twisting half before landing on your hands and then basically doing a front walkover out of it. i think i have seen girls do it on the balance beam before.
Ok, in a different thread I read that bhs bwo isnt counted as a seires in some states. My friend was wondering if it is counted as a seires in CA where she lives, because she is interested in doing it for level 8 this year.
Thanks,
Optinals rocks!!
Hi, I'm about to start back handsprings and I would like to know how long did you take to learn them and what difficulties do you have/had while learning?
Also, I'd like you to help me with a new skill: I have no idea how to do a valdez pirouette and I really need it. Plz help...:)
My daughter just learned how to do a back handspring but she is having a real hard time keeping her legs straight and together. Any suggestions? Thank you
Yesterday after practice my daughter said that the coaches were asking the girls to do their ROBH and BH with their hands turned in slightly (for the the RO part and the BH part). My daughter is finding this difficult since she never really did them that way before.
She just moved up from...
Hi wise coaches:),
I am hoping you can shed some light on an issue that my older DD continues to have.
She is 9 y.o. and training L5. She has been able to "do" a RO BHS without a spot for about a year and a half. It has never, ever looked pretty (her legs are apart and sometimes bent, the...
Hi ya'll:
Does anyone know some good drills for a BHS? Mine's okay... I do it well with a spot but then when I get less or no spot, I bend my arms... A LOT! I'm not sure why that is, it's not a lack of strength in my arms (we hold handstands for 4 mins against walls at start of every practice...
Yesterday I while doing a backhandspring, I jammed one of my arms into the floor, and it started hurting. It was fine, though; I just iced it and I tried to go on bars, our next rotation, but as soon as I hit the extended part of my glide kip, it hurt like crazy, so my coach told me to stretch...
Hi everyone! Hehehe! Well does anyone have any tips for round off back handspring back tuck? Ya, like the backtuck part is creepy to me, LOL!
So I'm fine when I have spotting but it's still a little bit scary.
Any help is great thanx!
I have started doing back handsprings on a low, wide, carpeted beam with panel mats on both sides. And I just cannot get my hands in the right position! I know one is supposed to be in front of the other, but when I jump backwards I land on my hands so fast that I mentally can't put one hand in...
uhm hey . well im working on my backhandspring . ive been doing gymnastics for about 4 months & we started working on them about a month ago. My coach told me that i can do one but i just dont "lock" my arms.. can anyone give me some advice?
Need some help with one of my gymnast flic flacs on beam.
Flic flac goes quite long and she has trouble splitting legs for walk out. She isn't overally flexible in the shoulders. Tried lots of flic flacing up hill. The other week I tried placing 2x 4inch high mats width ways over beam so the...
I got my back handspring on beam tonight at practice! my coach said I had to have it to go to level 9 (Yes, I managed to get this far without...;)) And I finally got it! The funny thing is I already have my layout stepout on beam. It was the bhs that was killing me!:D I'm so excited!
