Last may at my gymnastics recital i had my round-off double back handspring all by myself with no spotter and started working on back tucks. But this summer i was out for two weeks and when i came back i couldnt even do a round-off back handspring. Ive been working on my back handspring since...

Emma did TWO back handsprings tonight. :) I am so proud of her. You all know her struggle with this skill! :) Here is the video. Her coach had her try them on the floor too, but with a spot first. Emma has made huge steps in the last 2 months. She is so proud of herself.

Here's a video of me at open gym working my bwo bhs on beam and my double fulls into the resi. My mom only got like 3 videos of my bwo bhs and she missed all the good ones :( And my double fulls need a lot of work. I don't set up at all! Any constructive critism is appreciated :)

I need my back handspring please send me good luck and can i have some pointers for my back handspring and some tips to get over my fear. thanks fellow gymnasts
somehow my question is gone, so here is it again:
Do you teach a good BHS before you add it to the RO ? That is my opinion but our headcoach..long story short..insist to teach the BHS directly from the beginning with a RO....???
My daughter just finished her first level 4 meet and loved it. However, she still doesn't have her back handspring. She is working on it and is very close :) How much of a deduction is taken for a roundoff without the back handspring? Would it be better to have a spotter or just continue...
My DD 1yr Lvl 7 worked all summer on her BHS and I have seen her practice it beautifully. It took awhile for her to have confidence. The coach used panel mats stacked up and allowed her to drop it slowly until eventually she was doing them on high beam. I have seen her do her whole routine...
Hi there again :)
I took over a group of gymnasts. They are doing quite well but their BHS is awful !!! Each and every one. I started to brake down the skill:
jumping backwards on a mat
doing the fast arm swing laying on a mat
falling against a mat at the wall in a sitting position...
Here's what it looks like:

I think the second half is long enough (hands to feet) but the first half (feet to hands) is really really short. How do I make it longer and more powerful? Are there any drills that I can practice to improve the first half in particular?
Hi there,
This is a video my DD made on her backflip/BHS progress! She is a REC gymnast and taught herself this skill with coaches guidance. At the start it isn't even a BHS and looks terrible but at the end i think its pretty good!! Enjoy and sorry it's so long :)

I have been working back handsprings for a year or two now on beam, but just recently I have started working them more and been trying to get them by myself. I did it on the low beam by myself yesterday, but they are really ugly. I can do them on the floor perfectly, but when I try on beam my...
Bella loves doing her back handspring on our tramp at home. She does it quite nicely and is proud of herself for figuring it out. She feels so confident with it that tonight she was throwing ROBHS on the tramp. She has some form breaks that even my untrained eye can see, but I believe that...
Hi everyone!
So everyday i dread gymnastics for one reason, beam. I love every other event but beam. I'm a level 7/8 and have had a backhandspring for about a year and a half.. but they are still very inconsistant and each one is always scary. I'm not getting less afraid of them even though i...
I started gymnastics in July/August and right away had a pretty good back handspring. Then about 5 weeks ago I started turning my head to the side and now I can't break the habit :(. Three weeks ago I was practicing back handsprings and because I tuned my head and went crooked my left arm missed...
Can anyone recommend anything at all to help with my daughter's RO BHS BHS? She has a very lovely L5 floor routine but just cannot clean the BHS up...she either has bent legs or legs way apart or both. No matter what she does, she cannot do the BHS with legs straight and together! If she gets...
I am having trouble with back handsprings on beam.. when i have a spot (which actaully isnt really even a spot my coach just has her hand on my back the whole time) I can get both my hand and land it perfectly but when I'm doing it by myself I can only get one hand on the beam. HELLP ?
I am having serious trouble with my standing back handspring, and beam and floor. I always jump up instead of back, can't keep my arms straight and don't have enough spring. I know it would be better if I jumped backwards but I can't. I know it helps if you sit back first but when I do I always...
