So after what feels like FOREVER trying, I got my full turn on beam today! The owner of the gym, who also was a coach for a million and one years, was watching me and came over and gave me some pointers, and BAM, there it was! I was only able to do one, but I did it!
I have a girl who has a gorgeous back walk over on a line on the floor she takes it to our fat beam and its the same but when we go to a normal floor beam she freaks out. Even if there are panal mats. She used to have the skill on high beam by herself and now all of a sudden she seems to be...
When teaching BWO-BHS and BHS-BHS on beam do you allow the girls to swing their arms when learning? Is this something that girls eliminate as they get more confident?...or is it not productive?
In other words...the gymnast will continue and add the second skill...but only with an arm swing...
Hello
I wonder if you lovely people can assist....
DD is learning flicks on beam, however her flick from standing is not looking good, so is learning back walkover, flick to one and tick tock flick to two. She needs the extra momentum. All the other girls in her group are doing standing...

The other beam composition thread sparked this question in my mind - can a straddle press handstand count as a forward/sideward skill for Level 8 beam?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
I have been a poster on here(I haven't been in a little while) but had to change my screen name.
I have a question that hopefully a judge can answer but if anyone else knows feel free to chime in.
My DD was at a training camp this weekend and a question came up about her beam routine. A...

Hello Everyone,
My daughter is a level 9 gymnasts who has suddenly gotten a fear of doing her roundoff full beam dismount. Would a front layout dismount get her a 10.00 SV as long as she has everything else she needs including her bonus combinations? Or would that also have to twist? Thank you
My dd is afraid to do her cartwheel on high beam. She used to do it and she still can do it on the floor beam. But when she is on the high beam she let's her feet fall on the floor. It really upsetting her and it is effecting her confidence everywhere. She is talking about quitting. Her...
According to my daughter, her coach spots backhandspring on beam differently depending on the gymnast. Hence, the backhandspring performed by the gymnasts in her gym differs slghtly. The first half is uniform, jumping backward etc. The last segment and/or coming out of a backhandspring is...
Both my dd's are in gymnastics (level 6 and a developmental group). We have contemplated getting a low or floor beam at home for a few years and now that they are both really into gymnastics I guess I was thinking about it more. I have some questions though. If you have one, why do you like...
My DD can't hit 180° in leaps. What are some other options for getting bonus on beam at L9? Someone said a double turn with a flutter kick leap. There have got to be several more. Any ideas?
Okay so I'd like to ask all you artistic people to do me a favour; watch this video and let me know how this beam routine is. I've never choreographed a beam routine before, and as I was a MAG, I'd never had one myself. I know that her skills need work and it needs cleaning up, but just let me...
